If you've had your home-page hijacked and researched a cure, then you know how useful the CWShredder application can be in reclaiming control. Unfortunately, the Dutch student and developer of the application, Merijn Bellekom, has decided to call it quits, noting that the new variants of hijackers are becoming "too aggressive or too complicated to allow for automated removal

    Hi Ronjor, ;)

Thanks for the article ... I had heard that around somewhere ... actually I think it was Merijn's page - http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/~merijn/

CWS certainly is a nasty little bugger! that seems to change like the wind and adapt n' like a cameleon (sp?).

We're all thankful for the time and effort Merijn commited to this handy app! It was probably more than a 24/7 job.

Great work Merijn! :) ... you should receive a domination for the Noble Prize for this contribution.

We're all very Grateful! ;) and can not Thank You enough!

I don't know fella's, perhaps an alternative browser? I went to Coolwebsearch.com - clean - with my browser of choice - nothing. I then went there with IE and right away and without my knowledge or informing me - changed my browser page.\

Perhaps before you use a brand of software it would be wise to find out how best to properly secure it....especially when you knew there was probably something waiting for you @ CoolWebSearch.

of course, but the majority of public will visit a site and pick this stuff up without knowing it using IE.

Terrible. CoolWebSearch has gone beyond the limit already. Now, the last resort would be to hunt down the idiots responsible for creating such a hellish spyware.
Merjin has given up, but we must NOT give up in the fight against spyware.
    Evil NEVER wins.
