Ah but if there is a compatibility issue with ZA and AVK Pro, it is relevant to the topic @ hand.

True indeed; a compability issue. Then again: caused by ZA. Nothing wrong with AVK in this context ;).

    regards.

losing your touch a bit arent ya paul, you tell us where to post our stuff, and fair enuf it might be in the wrong place, but, theres still no need to go more off topic by argueing about it. SO lets get back on track, Ive sent numerous emails to AVK requesting a trial of some sort, and yet they arent replying not even to tell me to get lost. any one else get the feeling they arent wanted.

There is a conflict indeed. The free ZA did not show it but the Pro version went belly up in less than 5 min on here. Froze me up to point of reset button tactics. Sygate free is having no issues over here though. Been up and going since about 9 last night or so and not a single hiccup. eXtendia AVK Pro just found its new partner I do believe. *puppy*

No argueing - merely explaining, bob. Wether or not things go off topic is up to us to decide.

    regards.

i tried the KAV/Bitdefender version of AVK, and it has a much LARGER footprint than KAV/RAV version of AVK

Keep that in mind when demo-ing the KAV/Bit version

I wound up purchasing AVK- KAV/RAV version and love it

If you use av-comparatives.org as your benchmark, KAV and RAV would do better as a tandem I think.

I use the K/R combo myself. However you cannot buy it here anymore, just the K/B combo.

Cool. I already bought the KAV/RAV version and lovin it btw, lol. Hopefully they will update the KAV to later engine asap and keep the RAV definitions coming at a steady pace to match KAV too.

i suggest you try the kav/bit version (extendia does not have a demo), if you like the interface, than purchase the kav/rav version from extendia at http://extendia.com/eXtendiaAntiVirusPro.htm

Am I correct in assuming that the RAV definitions will cease in a 5 or 6 months?

Sorry, here is in The Netherlands. Might have to do something with this:

RAV AntiVirus Products - FREE DOWNLOADS

Download Section is closed. Existing RAV AntiVirus registered customers should address support@ravantivirus.com for downloading existing products.

Due to the acquisition of RAV's IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) by Microsoft Corp., GeCAD Software SRL is currently engaged in a strategic reorganization of its operations, which includes scaling down and discontinuation of its anti-virus related business. More details at:
    http://www.ravantivirus.com/pages/shownews.php?i=153 .

As part of this process please be informed that RAV AntiVirus online and direct sales ceased September 3rd, 2003.

Kobra for the benefit of the many who have not had any emails responded too could you provide the email addy in order to apply for the trial.
I must add here that i emailed them 4 months or more ago regarding their "suite" asking for more info regarding their firewall as well and are still awaiting a reply. Hope their updates are faster.

I sort of lost my train of thought reading this large post, so what is the general vote for AVK? Is it worth it or should one stick with either NOD32 or KAV?
