I get a warning my license expires in 30 days - click the link - no info whats the offer for me as owner of a full Prevx license key.

What have I missed out on? Can it be WSA hasnt decided what to offer us? If so... No I will not comment that until I hear wthe answer to this question.

We have not finished the transition process from Prevx license keys to WSA. As soon as this is done, current Prevx 3.0 users will be upgraded for free to WSA with their same license key.

So I just sit back and if you are not done within 30 days you will prolong my betalicense I suppose?

Yes, or you could sign up with a different email address, or you could just continue using Prevx 3.0 in the meantime.

Joe, I hoped for some WSA support managed solution as you indicated, but today it expired. Must I uninstall and reinstall? If so whats my best choice to not have to do so a second time? The 1 month trial or a new three month beta?

    Best Regards

You can use the one month WSA trial - we don't have an ongoing beta and the transition from Prevx 3.0 to WSA isn't complete yet so you'll want to just go with WSA directly.

Uninstalled and downloaded trial - got his message that my license had expired so I couldnt complete the installo_O I want to use this program during the time I have payed for. I have been led to believ I should be able to use my remaining Prevx license on this WSA product. I tried my best to contribute reporting FP etc during Beta. But isnt this getting overly complex now or is it me? If a customer is a paying customer and also a potential future paying customer - shouldnt it be easy to be a paying customer? Puuh

I've heard about some other cases of a trial license claiming it's expired. I got some more info by looking at the various addresses in use. So most of Webroot's old stuff is running on dedicated servers in a few places. The new stuff seems to be primarily pointing at AWS. But there's a combination of both the old stuff and new stuff in use. So it seems like the merger of Prevx and Webroot started a process of putting stuff on AWS. Which means building out entirely new systems and software and trying to integrate what must be a spaghetti nightmare of systems that originally were not designed to talk to other places. Thus it's not just the basic use of existing systems.

With all that in mind, I can see why some bugs and weird things are happening. I also get a feeling that it's one of those cases of "Use the Webroot customers to iron out the kinks, that way Prevx customers can have a clean and bug-free experience." ;) (I jest of course)

You may want to try signing up for the trial with a different email address to get a new key in case the old key expired already.

There is one route you could go and that is to generally prolong all trial and beta licences automatically 1 month at a time until you are on par with the license conversion issue.

To read in another thread that converting Webroot license holders is part of the reason why us Prevx customer are left in the cold doesnt do it for me. If I dont hear anything better soon I most likely will migrate to a lifetime Sandboxie license (a fragment of the cost vs WSA) + free Antivir. This feeling of disapointment was not what I believed would happen when buying Prevx license for 2 years. From my point of view all this creates badwill for WSA. If I am unfair in my criticism - please argue with me - I will listen.

When the license question is fixed (?) there is still the question about remote malware removal. In my Prevx license I have a promise of remote help from Prevx support (now WSA support?) to through remote access assist me and remove malware on my PC. Allthough I have asked several times I still dont know where to find an answer to this question.

I have tried my best to be a contributing user, but to download 1 month trial on my neighbours email adress and still dont know if you are ready within that month - your asking - if not lot - more than I think is reasonable.

Thank you Joe for taking the time. I have a feeling not all these descisions are yours - if so I understand if your in the middle of others descisions - allthough I dont fully know how much influence you have in the new organization. Your service to this forum once made me sure I should by the Prevx license.

    Best Regards

If you still have a Prevx license, you can continue using it as-is with no negative side effects. That's why there isn't an urgent requirement to upgrade everyone immediately - Prevx 3.0 still functions and runs perfectly well. If your Prevx license is expiring, buying WSA when your license expires is the best course of action: it has more functionality, better support, and stronger protection.

We're still only a fraction of the way through upgrading current Webroot customers and we need to time the upgrading not only with our development cycles, but also with our support team to be sure that they can provide a very good level of support for every user if they need it. I suspect that 10+ million Prevx users being upgraded overnight to a new product which looks completely different would immediately cripple all of the world's tech support combined.

Prevx is very different from WSA and WSA is very different from existing Webroot software. Because of the complexities involved, it will take time to upgrade each. It's very expensive for us to keep supporting all of the hardware for each older product set which is why we're keen to make the transition occur as quickly as possible but there are a number of considerations to take into account at each step of the way.

Unfortunately this seems to be the business model most companies take these days. They take care of the new or potential customers and make the old customers wait indefinitely for things to "get sorted out".
I too took part in the closed beta, and also have an active Prevx 3.0 license, awaiting update to WSA. Fortunately my Prevx 3.0 license does not expire soon, but to be honest I thought this would have been ironed out by now.

I just wish an ETA could be provided to us current Prevx customers...even if it is not accurate.

By Christmas? Early 2012? Or are we looking at having to wait somewhere into the middle of 2012? (Eeek!)

As a side note, I recently renewed my Prevx 3.0 subscription because I was comfortable with the old product, didn't feel like making the change on all my computers at the time, and wanted to wait a bit to let any bugs in WSA get sorted out...I'm starting to regret that decision significantly.

Sometimes, Webroot behaves like the Big Bank Corporations! ...
It's "arrogant" to make us wait like idiots!

We're hoping to have this done in early 2012 but it depends on how the migration of the current Webroot customers goes and the technical changes to support existing Prevx customers being upgraded.

So meanwhile you will not extend the trial or the beta to say 4 months to make it less complicated for us?
When ready you can go back to normal 30 day trial.

Somewhere in all this I got the impression - I think it was you Joe who gave me that impression - that us Prevx users could just as well join the open beta cause our licenses would be valid for WSA at the end and I couldnt imagine it should be this complex. Why not prolong beta and trial until you have done the job - say march 2012. But Ok Sandboxie seems good - and cheap - if thats the route you want me to take - going back to Prevx will most likely not happen without any license reinsert complications?

The 90 day beta licenses were indeed valid for WSA, but there is a limit to everything. The product is no longer in beta and if you had a beta license, you could continue using it for the rest of the duration even after release. After that, you can sign up for the trial so we're effectively giving 120 days of a license already. I'm not seeing a reason to extend the trial until March - the product is fully functional and no longer a beta, it is just the transition from Prevx to Webroot which isn't in place yet. Although WSA was written by the combined development team, Prevx is not Webroot. Upgrading the Prevx userbase is not straightforward and again, the bulk of the Prevx users have no idea that we were even acquired by Webroot.

If we terminated support for Prevx 3.0, then yes, we would need to immediately upgrade users to SecureAnywhere. However, we have not - you can continue using/purchasing/renewing Prevx 3.0. If you don't wish to continue using Prevx 3.0 knowing that SecureAnywhere is released, then that's your choice.

We will eventually support the upgrade to WSA from Prevx 3.0 license holders. If your license expires in the meantime, the best course of action would just be to buy a WSA license in the meantime as that's what would have had to happen to begin with if we had support for upgrading Prevx users in place on day-1. Or you could renew your Prevx license if it is less expensive for you than a WSA license - the support for upgrading is coming, but we have a great deal of high priority tasks to complete.

Sad I cant sell my argument that since you need more time you should prolong to make it easier for me to be customer and longtime future customer. I am on Sandboxie now and if that work fine I will stay there.
    Best Regards
Edit: Joe - all cred to you and your efforts and service. I think I understand your situation fairly well. I will check back to see how things are in Januari. :)

Reading every tread concerning the license transitions for prevx 3 users,

One, get a hold of a lot email addresses so that you’re able to install a trail version of wsa every month.

Two, when your current prevx license expires before the transition has been completed, buy a wsa license, you help them out by solving the problem of one less license holder to transfer.

Three, keeps using your current Prevx license, and wait…..

Please correct me if I’m wrong
