Unable to vote. I don't typically use a defrag program, have no favourite and am therefore unable to express a preference. You needed an option of 'none'
System Mechanic's one. (currently using it) http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/standard/#Program-Accelerator http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/standard/#DriveAccelerator
Been using Auslogics since Vista came out. What is so good about some of these others? Thanks in advance.
Puran Defrag here too. On one machine I paid for Disk Trix UltimateDefrag 2008 and although it has many configurations possibilities it is convoluted and slow. I regret buying it. Furthermore Vista on my main machine doesn't seem to benefit from defragmentation.
I voted "other" beacause for several years I'm using first for all Ultimate Defrag Free and PageDefrag both in XP and W7 (32-bit). I have Puran Defrag but now it have not much to do
For the record, I don't believe in regular defrags for most modern machines, especially with Windows 7 as the defragsvc runs automatically. For most people, they don't make a difference. I only use Defraggler or MyDefrag when the job calls for one. When they are needed, there is a massive difference in performance and usability. Defraggler is much faster, but purely defrags. MyDefrag can take quite a bit longer (mainly if there's a lot of data on the system drive e.g. photos, music, etc) but also attempts to 'optimise'. Otherwise they both just work, and have a large user base which helps with bug reporting.
After using Freeware, like Puran and MyDefrag and Shareware like PerfectDisk and O&O, I went back to the Windows 7 Disk Defragmenter. Frankly, after all these years, I didn't notice such a notable System-Performance Improvement...
I've used PerfectDisk from version 7 to 12 and several others only to go back to Windows 7's and now Windows Dev. Preview's defrag program. Set it on automatic and let it rip.
