    Hi all,
Is there any way to exclude the files at a specific level path but not the subfolders?

I need to esclude the 000s of files at C:\test but not the C:\test subfolders.

Also is there any difference between:

    C:\test*.*
    C:\test\*.*
    C:\test\*
    ?

    Regards,
    Clarence

    Hi Clarence,

Yes, you will need to add C:\test\*.000 to exclusions

C:\test*.* will exclude all test*.* files under C:\ (for example C:\test.exe or C:\test2.com, etc.)

For the other two, yes, it is the same C:\test\*.* than C:\test\*

For additional information about how exclusions work, as it is in the program's help:

When configuring exclusions in the resident scanner, special symbols – wildcards, such as “*” and “?” can be used.

    Examples:
    - If you wish to exclude all files in a folder, type the path to the folder and use the mask “*.*”.
    - If you want to exclude doc files only, use the mask“*.doc“.
    - If the name of an executable file has a certain number of characters (and characters vary) and you only know the first one for sure (say “D”), use the following format: “D?? ??.exe”. Question marks replace the missing (unknown) characters.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Tony,

    Thanks for your detailed reply.

    >>For the other two, yes, it is the same C:\test\*.* than C:\test\*

Do you mean that both of them will exclude all the files and subfolders at C:\test ?

    Kind regards,
    Clarence

    No problem :)

Yes, both *.* and * will exclude all files and subfolders. If you want, you can do some testing with the Eicar test file.

    Thank you.

I think in my first post there is a misunderstanding.

I don't need to exclude files of type '000'; I just need to exclude the files at C:\test path BUT NOT the files under the other subdirectories such as C:\test\trial1, C:\test\trial2, etc.

    Any clarification, please? :doubt:

This is not possible. To exclude C:\test, you'd add "c:\test\*.*" which would also exclude all subfolders in that folder from scanning.
