    Ditto.

Anyway, Lavasoft's products are crap so I wonder why would anyone want to acqure them.
This part made me laugh quite loud though:
I wonder if their products even detect tracking cookies now, because that's all they have ever detected.

As someone who used AAW from 3.62 through to the last 6x generations I can say that that is completely inaccurate. I take pride in both my service and the quality of the software we produced while I was there.

Give the new management time to get the ship righted and I am sure you will see exceptional things from them in the future...

Thanks Silj for the info !

    Mike,

That was a very honest post from an honourable man.
    I give a big thumbs-up :thumb: !!!
And yes, you have every reason to be pride while you were there.

    Enough said.

Like Mike said, let's give the new management some time.

So what are the lawyers going to do with this now then  :D

I just think it's a little weird that a company like Solaria Fund buys something like Lavasoft hmmm.

Ahh, the simpler days when one would nab the adware | spyware | malware, if the other didn't - the other would.

Back when you didn't have to wonder if you were infected with that junk. A lot of it was so "in your face" there was no doubt.

Gave up on AAW back in 2004 when they apparently dropped detections when adware companies threatened to sue them. There was new.net, hotbar, and a few others, plus a boatload of controversy over non-detections due to ridiculously long adware EULAs that could make a reader unconscious before they finished it, and a constantly changing definition (or a complete lack thereof) for adware, spyware, etc. Too much politics in determining the detections and in censoring the forums, and not enough concern for the users who kept them in business. That mess is a big part of what convinced me that signature based detections were useless. Solaria can have them.

The information that you have Corrine is all that I know as well.
It would appear since Lavasoft AB was acquired by Michael Dadoun of "UpClick.com" of Montreal, little else is known.

That is why I find it curious that SC Magazine reported on it at this late date, siljaline. I think Wilders and possibly DSL Reports are the only forums that noticed. I guess that is illustrative of how things have changed over the past 5 or 6 years.

The lack of exposure of this subject may have flown well below the so-called radar since the acquisition by the Montreal company. It is likely they are waiting for venture capital to use the software for other means. This is a supposition, of course.

Didn't ad-aware just release version 9.5? It's kind of amazing how many of these acquisitions become public right after an upgrade release. It's pretty obvious these acquisitions don't occur overnight. But I think most of these companies purposely keep their legions of beta testers in the dark in hopes of burning every last free calorie out of them. It's one reason I never volunteered to be a beta tester for a product...not that I would ever even use the Ad-aware product anyway.

That's sad, I do wish we still had contacts here at Wilders from Lavasoft so we can keep up to date with whats going. I don't think Jane works there any more? I think she use to post here on Wilders with what was going on.
