    Today I found my found pendrive filled with loads of important documents and applications infected with Win32:Sality. And that infection infected all the exe files in my Pendrive. So, I wanted some application that will remove that infection keeping the file intact because I really find myself lazy in downloading all the stuffs again. I tried some Sality removal tools but none helped me in that because that infection was in my Pendive only; not in my real system. Finally Dr Web Cure It saved my whole day. So I want to thank it with complete gratefulness. Even in these days with rare/complicated file infectors Dr Web haven't forget its prime goal....:)

    Yeah Dr Web CureIT is good at disinfecting files, even kaspersky is also good in disinfection specially removing the Sality one but too bad that kaspersky comes for a price:cautious:

    File infectors are notorious to remove, far better to reimage, replace than to 'disinfect.'

    Fyi infection isn't limited to exe's.

    Next time open your USB drive sandboxed (SBIE), so you wont get infected.

    @Jerry:
    I opted the option Cure when CureIt detected an infection in my Pendrive...:)
    @Meriadoc:
    Yeh that was my concern too. I just hoped that it haven't infected other type of files....:eek:
    @Bo:
    Yeh good idea. But I was not afraid of infection of my host system as it is fully configured with layers of protection...:)

    once(2 years ago.. only infection i had in 6 years :cool: ), i was infected with win32:Virut .. that destroyed all my exes..
    I had to reinstall my OS to my C: .. but didnt touch my other drives( my files)..
    I then scanned with Drweb cureit.. it detected all other infected exes and cured...
    Then reinstalled Windows xp again..(For my satisfaction) and scanned with Drweb again .CLEAN:thumb:

    I heard that DrWeb was Beta Testing a new higher speed scan engine for their antivirus products. I wonder how long it will be before they add the new scan engine to DrWeb Cureit.

    Dr. Web and Kaspersky solutions are good against file infectors. I have just cleaned friend system data infected by Email-Worm.Win32.Rounouce.b using KIS.

    I prefer Dr Web CureIt over Kaspersky AVP tool mainly because in many systems I cannot use AVP tool because it requires admin right....:ninja:

    I don't understand why all antiviruses don't follow the paths of Dr Web/ Kaspersky in file repair atleast in some special cases...:eek:

    Most AVs do repair files, but the abilities of all the antiviruses disinfect infected files differs. DrWeb and Kaspersky are simply more renowned for being strong in this area.

    I will not trust any AV in curing a file infector. A re-install from scratch will be my option.
