my friend has been getting from his antivirus that she has the worm.netsky.b , and we've tried anything to remove it and used every removal tool on the internet for the netsky.b but none have found an infection , and she keeps getting the warning from her antivirus , and her computer is getting really slow . so please if anyone knows how to deal with the problem , i'll be glad to hear your solutions , Thank you!

    Hi musey :)

U could get your friend to follow these instructions,

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913

then post a HijackThis log in the appropriate forum and one of the experts will view the log and give recommendations on any Malware found.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi musey,

To add to snowbound's suggestion, you could have your friend try McAfee AVERT Stinger. Stinger is a small utility that will detect and remove specific viruses, and W32/Netsky.b@MM (along with other variants of Netsky) are included in Stinger's detection: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Can you tell us where the virus is being found, and what the operating system is?

    Regards,

    snap

Ok, then she might just need to disable system restore and scan the computer with her up to date antivirus:

Here's some information on how to do this:

    ***************************************
To turn off Windows XP System Restore
Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
Check the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" check box.

Click Apply. You will see a message appear.

As noted in the message, this will delete all existing restore points. Click Yes to do this.
    Click OK.
Proceed with what you need to do. For example, removing viruses. Restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.

To turn on Windows XP System Restore

    Click Start.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" check box.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
    ********************************

    Good luck!
