I'm totally tired of mess around with Prevx license. Today I suddenly get again "Error L055: This license may only may only used on one PC". Really? So why I cannot use it. I have tried to do everything via My Prevx.

Well, I did enough and I uninstalled Prevx, completely this time. It never worked well with Opera (maybe it's something with Opera or W7 x64).

Maybe I'm only one but they lose one paying customer with that license mess around. And I do not recommend Prevx anymore anywhere, conversely.

Don't give up on Prevx, let Joe read this thread and he will be happy to help you fix your problems with Prevx and with Opera as I don't have that problem running Opera 10.60 on Win 7 x64 using the latest RC build 3.0.5.179 :doubt:

Really, I can understand your frustration but you've paid for support and Prevx gives among the best in way of support in addition to among the best protection. Why not follow up as posters have suggested and give them a chance to sort it for you?

Indeed :doubt: Prevx does have a tight licensing policy but this is to prevent abuse and to allow us to provide a positive service to the actual paying customers. L055 errors will come if you reinstall your operating system or make other major changes to your PC, or possibly if you've used the same license key on another PC.

If you could send me your license key, I can get it reset without a problem. Additionally, if you anticipate making system changes in the future, please send me a PM before hand and I'll reset it before you make the changes :)

I have not changed anything or used it with another system, and still this was second time I got this. And I do not care anymore, I never will install it again, like I told it never worked well with Opera, at least here. But thanks.

Edit: but I PM my license, so maybe you can figure out what went wrong and maybe you can avoid it in future.

I've reset your license so it will work now - we've fixed Opera support and now your license will work but it is up to you to use it or not.

FYI I occasionally see this error on my system too which is running Windows 7 Home Edition 32bit. For example yesterday after doing some web browsing with Opera 10.60 and realising that the Prevx Safe Online pop-up was no longer present I switched to Internet Explorer 8 and as IE started up popped the error message. Subsequently closing and re-opening IE produced no error message.

Today I'm typing this in Opera and have just tried loading IE and this time no error message. I've not made any changes that I would call significant on my system recently and as far as I can tell the occasions when this message have popped up previously appear to be random. I just have the one Prevx license which is currently for this PC. I did previously have it running on my old Windows XP PC but I transferred the license from that one to my new one using My Prevx facility at that time. That was now some time ago.

    Scan log sent as requested.
I am currently running version 3.0.5.171 of Prevx.
For me the error is transient in nature. It occasionally pops up, I click on OK or however the button is labelled, it goes away with Prevx and Safe Online apparently still working normally and some days later it will again make a single appearance. I'd tend to agree with the original poster that this occasional error popping up makes me reluctant to recommend Prevx to any of the less experienced users I support. For me it's no big deal however as long as Prevx continues to work reliably (and gains support for Opera 10.60, my favourite browser asap).

Confirmation that Prevx have provided me with a copy of version 3.0.5.179 RC which I've installed and briefly tested as instructed. I'll report back to this thread if I get any more L055 errors. Otherwise you can assume this error is gone for me.

Since I do not use PrevX anymore, can I give away my lisence to someone else?

We don't support license transferring - when a license is activated, it is tied to that PC specifically.

God damnit. I had my license reset not less than two days ago. I have the same installation on Windows as then. And now all of a sudden, I get L055! I only have one the license active on this computer! MyPrevx tells me the same!

Is this a glitch? This tight license policy is starting to piss me off. I've recently created an image so I won't have to go through manual reseting, but no ordinary user (non-advanced) would be able to do so. I've been ready to take measures for this, but this random L055 is just too much.

I did two days ago. He had it reset (he responded within 5 minutes). :)
But now I get a message that my key can only be used on one computer and I'm still using the same computer with the exact same Windows installation. It's so frustrating that this strict license policy is affecting you so hard. If I could pay 10 euro extra on my license I would to get a VIP key so I wouldn't have this hassle all the time. I can't imagine what a hard time a family-pack license would have. 4 computers where the children pretty much needs to re-install Windows once a year.

Please contact Joe so he can look into it again as he could possibly see something wrong on your license account? Or start a ticket with Prevx Support? http://info.prevx.com/service.asp

I had the random LO55 bull**** for a while and I'm convinced it's to do with running as an LUA (which I do). It was sorted out by one of the PrevX guys but it shouldn't be happening in the first place. The license restrictions are IMHO OTT.

I am currently running under an admin account, so LUA isn't the cause of this.

Joe will fix it, geez. Most people install the product and never ever have a reason to reinstall the license again.:cautious:

How odd. On 4th reboot, the message is no longer showing up. Must be a glitch witch, as I've read, has occurred before?

Worth noticing, I had no new security installations since installation of Prevx and only Steam and Skype installed after installation of Prevx. So must either be a communication problem with Prevx server or a glitch with Prevx itself.

Prevx's license system is utter crap, i think we can all agree on that, they will NEVER fix it permanently probably simply because it's too fragile, it will spring up even after having reported it, supplied logs etc to support and gotten help yada, yada yada and it still surfaces for me too off/on........only perhaps with 4.0 will this be "fixed" IMHO.

However i did a good thing and the only correct thing(IMO)....i thought: "Screw them, if they want to punish their paying customers instead of the ones who do not, then by good, i couldn't care less about signing into Myprevx and de-activate, this never work anyway". So i just contact them in advance and ask them to reset when i need to and like magic it does not bother me one bit anymore. :D :D

These thoughts about the license system do NOT apply to Joe or support, they are absolute stellar IMHO and deserve praise for the way they handle themselves/represent their company when they have to listen to the same song they have heard a million times and take all sorts of not ok flaming. :thumb: (Including i'm not proud to say one time from me as well)
