I've heard it said that lots of people have problems trusting a cloud-based solution. Do you?

If there are problems, then how programs like Hitman pro, prevx etc got a lot of users??

i like cloud based protection along with traditional AV/AS.

I don't have any problem with cloud, but i like to have control over it.
Such as it doesn't sends information/files unless you allow it :D

Exactly! Cloud protection+ something more traditional its a great combo. Im using PrevX alongside AV (Avast), and Im proud:D
On the other hand, dont trust cloud based software, to have only that type of layer. Dunno why...maybe habits from old times, when traditional AV was something basic;)
Traditional light AV + cloud based software + maybe some kind of HIPS= that feels me much more secure:D

I trust the cloud, I see no reason why I should not. Cloud based protection allows me to stop worrying about updates plus it removes the heavy load on my system. Till I see reason not to trust it I will trust it.

To save things in cloud services is a part of my backup strategies. But I don't trust only in it.

You guys must be kidding . Only innovation such as Cloud-computing technologies can save you nowadays.

Traditional technologies are way OUT of date and can easily be beaten.
Cloud scanners provides you up-to-the-second protection.

Cloud is the best bet we have right now for "list" based detection.

    I did not vote,because I just don't know.
I DO trust what is scanned, but I just dont thank it is comprehensive enough.

If other files are added,to make it comprehensive, would I trust it?

    Don't know.

Not really for malware. 0 days viruses remain so until someone reports them, it reduces the time between creation and first detection though. On the other hand, there's a tremendous potential in the future of computing practices. Google is already offering so many in the cloud services. What's needed is a cheap wireless universal connection to the Internet anywhere in a city. Privacy will always remain an issue.

Yeah it will but not better than the traditional AVs:)

I am just talking about users who seldom visit the internet so they only want protection mostly from threats coming from USB:)

No , I disagree . The tradional antivirus scanning (simply checking if a file is in the antivirus' blacklist of known malware) is the way .

It is always the layered-approach . Cloud scanning , Behaviour analysis and/or HIPS , IPS , Firewall , Whitelisting , Heuristics and finally tradional scanning - I think is what it should be

I thought when I created the poll that there might be some users who initially trusted the cloud, but then changed their mind.

Interestingly, no one has voted for, I once did but I don't now.

Not really, as I expect that vendors are keeping a list of the filenames on my machine. If they get hacked, that list may get into the wrong hands. Then someone will know what I have to try to exploit. I know that is a stretch, but the bad guys are out there working hard to do whatever they can.
