Had a BSOD when RVS 2010 was installed. The prior versions worked fine for the past several years. Unfortunately, the only way to load Vista was to go into safe mode and stop RVS from loading, then return to uninstall it. Did not obtain the dump file, however, the BSOD may have been due to the AV or HIPS part of Returnil. Also, at this time the Security appication was changed from Norton Internet Security 2010 to Microsoft's Essentials.

The bottom line is that for the past two years Returnil was a daily routine with computer activities, but with the advent of 2010 there is too much bloat and it goes beyond what is wanted. Am finished using Returnil and removed it.

If a lite or trimmed down version was offered would consider installing that. :thumbd:

Hello john10882 and welcome to the forums :)

We have identified an incompatibility between RVS 2010 and Microsoft's Security Essentials that will cause a BSOD if the RVS Virus Guard is enabled. We are investigating this and hope to have a fix for this in the next series. In the interim, we recommend not using the two in combination until this is sorted.

    Mike,

Will you please provide advise as to how to run RVS with MS Essentials? Is it possible to not load the AV or HIP modules? I prefer to run RVS, without the added hip or AV modules and handle MBR problems in other ways. Will this not be fixed until some later release? Will there be a light version without these added items?

    Thanks,

    john

Try their free 2008 version,it's less "bloated" and might help with the issue you are having.
