Disk Director vis a vis Linux partitioning

I recently bumped into a Partiitionig Incompatibility between Partitition Magic and GParted in Ubuntu Linux.

I was wondering whether Didsk Director has the same issue?
I have Disk Director 10, but not yet installed.

PartitionMagic has been mentioned on the forum quite a few times. Seraching for "PartitionMagic" or "Partition Magic" will bring them up. For example, this one.

It's an older program and very often will report problems that don't really exist because the layout "breaks" the rules it's expecting.

I haven't used PartitionMagic, but I would assume that the partitioning changes were the result of realignments.

I don't think DD will normally have any problems with partitions created with most other programs. If you want to see what DD shows and don't want to install it, download the ISO file from your Acronis account, burn the CD and boot it. Keep in mind that DD hasn't been updated in a while so it may not correctly support some of the newer chipsets. If you install DD and create the CD, you'll have the option to include the Safe Mode (DOS-based) version. This version accesses the drives through the BIOS and will usually work when the Full Mode (Linux-based) version doesn't.

I installed ADD on a Vista notebook earlier today.

Tonight I created a Boot Media CD and a .iso, both have identical file content.

Using the CD was very disappointing:

1. Neither the touchpad nor the mouse behaves well, very difficult, if not impossible to select various things. Mouse is a wireless laser mouse.

2. And, the full vesion shows only the USB drive, it does not show the hard drive.

I did install version 10.0.2160.

I'm going to try the CD on a Windows 2000 desktop to see whether it behaves better, but now I am running a full virus scan, so will not be able to try until sometime tomorrow.
