BOClean has NOT officialy been discontinued

BOClean has NOT officialy been discontinued :

Well, it seems that the anouncement on Comodo forums :

    http://forums.comodo.com/comodo_boc...ard_closed_product_discontinued-t38706.0.html

    was premature :

    From this topic :

    http://forums.comodo.com/feedbackco...is/about_the_standalone_boclean-t38804.0.html

I am a little bit pissed now

How much longer do you plan to run the program, given that it isn't being updated anymore? A user might benefit from the protection afforded by the existing database for quite some time... 6 months to a year, maybe? What do you think?

I still have my Digital River order confirmation from March of 2003. I'll hang onto it and maybe it'll be a collector's item in 25 years. ;)

He is talking about the Ask Toolbar you can install with CIS, but it was never in BOClean.

And yes, BOClean is still updating and still available from the Comodo website, but I don't know for how long :doubt:

I suppose it would be okay if they stopped supporting the product and releasing new builds, but continued to release updates.

GiddyUp, do you have a replacement program in mind, for whenever BOC updates cease? I'm thinking maybe replace with nothing... I always viewed BOC as a layered component, and my protection could very well be adequate without it. Any thoughts?

I uninstalled BOClean and don't feel the need to replace it with anything. I think I still have my receipt for BOClean laying around somewhere.

Exactly. It was not very dynamic, it was a static thing, somehow superfluous.

I used it for a short time and all it did was update. Then when I installed OA it wasn't compatible with it and threw fits. Maybe it will be better suited to the Comodo suite.

What a pity, but I guess all good things must come to an end. I've been very happy with BOClean since 2002, and I've never experienced a conflict with any software titles.

Although I think I will remain well protected with my current setup (see signature), I might add Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) and/or a-squared free version just for additional peace-of-mind.

Seems a little over board to install CIS just to get BOClean, I wont do it. I have Zone Alarm and Kaspersky AV. Will find something different for BOClean. Wonder if the last update will force you to uninstall BOClean.

    Vale BOClean: :'(
S'pose the writing was on the wall some time ago. :p
Sad to see the end of BOClean.
I hope the McAleavey's continue on in the web somewhere and we 'feel' and 'hear' their presence again in the future.
    They were serious contributors.
Whatever I may think re Comodo and recent issues, I hope Comodo appreciates KMcA and he continues to be a standard setter.
