I sent a message to SpyCop because I could not order their product from the website and here is their response:

Hi - Thank you for your email. Due to an ethics disagreement between vendor and distributor, the product that you knew as SpyCop is now SpyReveal. New sales company, identical product.

The SpyReveal website is still under construction, however we made it urgent
priority that the product and updates are delivered to our customers. The
download links work, and updates are being distributed via SpyReveal.
Additionally, the lifetime subscription requirement has been removed under the
new name. SpyReveal is a lifetime product and you will never have to renew again.

We hope to have SpyReveal available for general sale to new customers within a week.

Why would they change the name unless the vendor sold the program?

I am curious too. From what I understand though, it is the only product that specifically scans for commercial keyloggers. Is that correct. What other antikeyloggers can scan for commercial keyloggers? Does Zemana?

And let's face it, SpyCop isn't going to any great extremes to keep you from feeling that way. I'm not real enthused.

Zemana doesn't scan for loggers, but their updated product does a good job at preventing one from being installed in the first place!

I downloaded and installed it and it looks and seems Identical! It also migrates your registration details and gives you a lifetime subscription, not just the 1 year subscription Spycop did!

I wonder if the new one effects things like white lists, ect?

I'm with you, Caspian. Thoroughly confused. Maybe Spy1 can come back and tell us what he knows about (competing products?) or whatever is going on. I know he used to be pretty close to them.

I have had very recently contact with the original devellopper of SpyCop.
    But:
    1.
We have now (at least) two threads about SpyCop->SpyReveal.
For me that is one too much. One of them has to be closed to be able to follow what is going on.
If I post about it, I will do it on this one:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=235614
    2.
I am very reluctant to post private emails, but I might paraphrase it in some way soon.

    Hi FanJ,

You'll notice, especially within the last year, a lot of people posting in the privacy subforums who rarely venture out of them. That's why most of us didn't even know about the other thread.

To me, it's an easy choice: which product is that the original developer of the product we've all known as SpyCop? As far as I'm concerned, once we know who that is, the discussion is pretty much over. (Meaning there's only one SpyCop and that's the one everyone has known for years).

This just in from Grey McKenzie
    Founder
    www.nationalcybersecurity.com
    www.spycop.com

Spy Reveal is a spin-off of my old SpyCop Security Scanner, same product.

I am not involved with Spy Reveal in any way. I have replaced SpyCop Scanner
with SpyCop Cloak because it is a far superior product and is pro-active not
re-active in exposing & shutting down rogue malware programs of all kinds.

Any scanner whether it's a spyware or virus or Trojan scanner... always has
to have the profile of whatever it's looking for in the scanners database or
    it won't work.

SpyCop Cloak is dedicated to protecting our clients from any and all
    security threats.

SpyCop targets any rogue software including spy software, Trojans, Viruses,
Worms, Bots, literally all programs that want access to your private
    computer activity.

Cloak doesn't need a profile like all the scanning engines do.

No matter what malware tries to access your personal data there are only
limited paths to travel to harvest that information & SpyCop Cloak monitors
    all those paths..

In addition to cloaking your keystrokes & making them invisible to
keyloggers, SpyCop Cloak targets any malware that travel the "sensitive
information" highway on your computer with its Internal System Firewall.

    Think of it like this.

SpyCop Cloak sits on the side of your computers information highways and any
unrecognized traffic is pulled over for further inspection.

At that point SpyCop notifies you of the Spyware Trojan, Bot Virus Worm
etc., and you have the opportunity of allowing or denying any further
    movement of that software application.

Either way you are notified and are given the ability to turn it off or let
    it continue.

In essence SpyCop Cloak forces malware to ask your permission to operate on
    your computer.

Unlike any Spy or Virus Scanning engines, SpyCop Cloak doesn't need to wait
until the latest malware profiles are released..

Cloak simply doesn't need them. It will catch any new or old malware
    programs automatically.

SpyCop with its new cutting edge security algorithm monitors all traffic on
your system and lets you shut down anything that isn't legitimate.

I hope this clears up any confusion you may have.

    Best Regards,
    Grey

There is still the question about the 'ethics' issue.

    Hello Guys,

I am one of the partners involved in SpyReveal. I will be handling marketing and management of the overall SpyReveal product. Our new strategy involves being more open and more community involvement in our product.

I can not specifically disclose why the security scanner is no longer involved with SpyCop. Look at this way the security scanner was a product of SpyCop's for 10 years, something happened to trigger the partnership to end.

Either way our focus is to move past our ethics disagreement with SpyCop, and rebrand as SpyReveal.

If you guys have questions, I'd love to answer. If you have any suggestions for SpyReveal, I'd love to hear them as well. We plan on doing a complete UI overhaul down the road.

    Thanks,
    SpyReveal
