    Here's a preliminary list of changes. There should be a more comprehensive list available soon...

    * SONAR for 64-bit Vista
    * Right-click scanning for 64-bit Vista
    * Tamper Protection for 64-bit Vista
    * Various bug fixes

    I seem to remember that right-click scanning for x64 was a big issue for some so here you go :cool: Norton Safe Web has also been expanded to display multiple categories, a little like web of trust.

    Yes, I see that a rather high ranking member has complained about it. I'm sure others will follow.

    They don't include a toolbar in the first place; I think your safe.

    It doesn't seem like a big deal to me. The Ask search box can be "unchecked" so it doesn't display. The password management and Norton Safe Web are very useful.

    Sorry for being vague. I was wondering about the 64 bit SONAR and other changes. Are those coming to the gaming edition?

    Yes, over at the official forum they've given the information that this update applies to all NIS and NAV products - Gaming Edition included.

    If this software was free... it would be one thing. But this is PAID software and something was installed on user's computers without their permission and there is no way to easily uninstall it. That is entirely unacceptable.

    Every time a company does it, they end up rescinding it... so why bother?

    Do you have a link? I'm curious as to when this is going to be released for the other versions.

    I remember off the top of my head context menu scanning was added for x64.

    It still doesn’t work for me. Is this something I have to download separately or does it come with a liveupdate?

    What is it about the Ask search bar being integrated into the Norton toolbar which you object too? If it were only the "Ask toolbar" I would understand, but it is the Norton toolbar which provides real security features that are part of the suite. Is there something especially bad about Ask Search? Does using it compromise security or privacy? Does it cause some problem even if it is ignored?

    "When the update is more widespread, it will also update Norton AntiVirus Gamer Edition. If you still don't have the update after I post the next announcement, please let us know!

    Moreover, the official Symantec forum isn't exactly hidden or anything. The NIS and NAV-forum is here: http://community.norton.com/norton/board?board.id=nis_feedback No need to be a member just to read the topics and posts. ;) :p

    Even if no information is sent to ASK.COM/IAC (who unchecks that option, and if not, what is really sent to ASK.COM ??), what's the point of using the ASK search engine ? For general purposes, it's certainly not the best.

    Do they do it just for the money ? :cautious:

    It's about the money. Symantec is a corporation, after all.

    Which would suggest that 'personal' data are sent to ask.com /IAC, how else would they make money ? Targeted advertising is the least that can be expected.

    It'll come eventually. Give it a couple more days; not everyone gets it depending on your location.
