Dear ESET Customers: Unfortunately, virus signature update 3901 caused some installations of ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.x and 4.x to behave abnormally. Symptoms include the errors “unable to load firewall rules” or “firewall failed to start”.

To address these errors, please uninstall and reinstall your ESET software.
If a blue screen is displayed, boot your computer into Safe mode, uninstall your ESET software, and reinstall.

For step-by-step instructions, see the following Knowledgebase article:

We sincerely apologize to those customers who were affected. EDIT: Regular updates have resumed.

If you have any client machines which do not allow users to login, please contact Customer Care (enter "3901" in the "Subject" field). Thank You.
