outside Online armor and comodo are there alternative?

outside online armor and comodo , (look and stop i don't like how the rules works)

are there good alternative?

I've been using Jetico in the past and I can tell you it is really light. Give it a try - version 1 is still free but you will have to pay for latest v.2.

i used outpost and comodo
i liked very much the old version of outpost but now it's too much resourse hog

 

pc tools FW is very light, both on ur system and while u surf, its one of my fav's, give it a try and see.

i dont think so (cant remember) but PC Tools FW is pretty quiet, u dont really need a learning mode through my own experiences. few popups, nothing even close enuff to be anywer annoying IMO.

 

Outpost Firewall PRO and PC Tools.Outpost has HIPS,PC Tools without.Both light and strong on matousec page....I count just on that 4 firewalls. All of the 4 have space for litle improvements and bug fixies,they will be even better in near future.

But there is a KIS 8 with very good firewall,and one of the best complete protection,thats why i use it.

 

actually pc tools FW DOES have HIPS, not nearly as noisy or maybe as wide protection, but almost just as effective as the others, to me thats where it gains bonus marks .

 

outpost 2009 light??

i have never found a light version of outpost since the 2.7

Have a look at Privatefirewall, easy to use (starts in learning mode) - no noticibale system impact or surfing slowdowns, excellent n fast support also weekends, strong n famous HIPS included (Dynamic Security Agent, inhouse tech), consistent good test results

 

Most people look at RAM to judge if something is light... I look on CPU time and i agree with you (i have a lifetime license and don't use it, because in p2p, Outpost is one of the heaviest firewalls out there).

The 3.0.1.14 is free. It has no HIPS (it has code injection protection only, but it's annoying, i don't use it). It's very light, but i can't say it's similar to Outpost. You can select ports and protocols per application, but similar is subjective...

Currently, version 5 is out, which has also HIPS (which you can disable). But i prefer the old 3.0.1.14 without HIPS. It's a bit lighter.

Well, i haven't tried the latest. If it gives you problems, it's the "Enhanced Security" thing (the hips). You can disable it in options.

Well, they are... different. Personally for a firewall with HIPS, i like Comodo more. But as a firewall PC Tools is very snappy. If you mean by Matousec's ratings, Comodo is still better.

 

Why? FYI Online Armor has released it's probable final beta V3.1.0.26 prior to its long awaited customer release, and the beta is flawless. Go for the paid version. It's well worth the reasonable price. Free is nice but premium is worth it.

Inbound & Outbound - Protection!
However!
It does have just one little problem - Enhanced Security Verification ( ESV )
ESV = One of their newer Firewall features .. They're struggling to get right
ESV Can Cause.. Freezes and Blue Screens
In my opinion .. Best Left - OFF .. Till they get it right!

Don't Be Put Off!
But Just make Sure...
Once you've Installed PC Tools Firewall Plus .. Wait a few minutes while the Firewall settles in. ( e.g. You may get 1 or 2 - Allow or Block - Pop Ups )
Then...
Double Click the Firewall Icon in your Taskbar - To Open It!
Click On - Settings
Click On - Filtering Tab
Untick - Enhanced Security Verification
Click On - Apply

That should ensure... You Wont Have Any Problems!

 

My vote goes for Outpost Firewall PRO 2009.

I won't tell you if it's light or not. In my system is, but each system is a system.

There are apps that are light and work just fine in some systems, but in other systems, just make them crash.

My suggestion: Test a few, if you have that chance. They stick to the one that works better on your system and that you can handle better.

That's the best suggestion I can give to you.
