If you are looking for a free converter for your video, music and picture files take a look at FormatFactory.
It is very easy to use. Even novice users will start converting their files in no time.

FormatFactory is my main converter and, yes, it's probably one of the easier to use. But I also seldom need to use MediaCoder when I want to convert APE files. It seems not being able to really integer the cue file in its processing and, as a result, does not split the giving audio tracks as it should do.

    You are welcome guys. :)

In case you want to give a try to other free video converters take a look at the following programs too.

    For beginners:
Cocoon Quick Media Converter it is as easy as formatfactory.

    For beginners and intermediate users:
    Any Video Converter Free

    For intermediate and advanced users:
SUPER © It gives you great flexibility but you should have some basic knowledge about convertion settings. Here are the intructions on how to download it. http://www.erightsoft.com/dlhelp.html
MeGUI One of my favorites for video convertions. Is open source and needs net framework 2 to run.
VirtualDub I love this one. Probably the best of both free and paid video converters. Here you can find some very usefull extra plugins fccHandler's plugins and Moitah's plugins

    Hello,

My choices of multimedia conversion are these three:
VirtualDub, Audacity and ffmpeg. ffmpeg is command line, but it's absolutely powerful for just about any task ... on Linux, as well.

    P.S. Tutorials coming soon ...

Do you mind to tell why you managed to forget the most excellent MediaCoder in your list ? Btw, they just released a new build today.

Simple... I do not like the way it interacts with Firefox. ;)
For example, why should I be connected in internet to use the configuration wizard? o_O

Sure you are entitled to what you like or not and cast away the best open source audio/video batch transcoder out there because its front-end/GUI sparingly makes use of the firefox's gecko engine for some settings. :doubt:

    And, fyi, from the FAQ:

MediaCoder does not rely on Firefox to perform transcoding (that doesn't make any sense). However some extended user interfaces (developed with XUL) depend on Firefox (more accurate, its Gecko engine). If you don't need those UI, you don't have to install Firefox. Neither do you need to be online to use MediaCoder.

And, from that as a bonus, MediaCoder includes a built-in media streaming server which can be used to stream out audio and video files through HTTP protocol. :D

I don't cast it away because it uses the gecko engine, but because it needs to connect in internet to do it. I want to have all the options, even when I am offline. :p

I said the wizard, not the settings menu... :)
(and in windows enviroment, not in gnome linux...) # Linux with Wine (most features work)

You are right if you need a wizard to play with the program's settings :doubt: (maybe at your first trial with it). I consider myself as technically challenged and I did not even know there was one so I don't see that as a big hindrance considering all MediaCoder is able to give.
