    Check it out::

    https://forums.comodo.com/beta_corner_cis/comodo_internet_security_35_beta_released-t26993.0.html

    !BETA Notice!
    -------------------

This product is intended for a highly specialized group of users called BETA testers. Please do not install or use it on production machines.

Noticeable improvements/ developments (that I've read, I haven't tested it):
    --Lower resource usage
--D+ less annoying (COMODO AV covers some of the things; ie. nicer integration)
--Reworked interface (though the developers are focusing on security first and usability next)
--FIRST free internet security suite :) !!

Works fine here. When Idle it is anywhere from 1-3mb in memory

    That's all 3 processors. CPF3, Defense+, AV.

It's going to take some time to get the detections up.

But yes. Basically, CFP 3 (Released November 20th) was Security. Now you are seeing the beginning of usability, Thanks to the AV Infrastructure.

There are researchers all over the world collecting sigs, and on top of that there is CAMAS (Comodo Automated Malware Analysis System) Where about so far over 40,000 files have been submitted through this and any malware gets added to the database.

By the way there are only 2 processes:
    cfp.exe
    cmdagent.exe (Where CAV3 is in).

Yeah. I posted it to antivirus section deliberately since this (beta) release is really about the new AV from Comodo mainly, not so much to write home about in the firewall department. ;)

HIPS is definitely improved. They resolved many issues. One big plus is that now it,s giving alerts about driver loading in addition to the ambigious SCM acess alert.

Many other bugs I noted in the recent past and posted on their forums seem to be corrected.

eEye has been giving away Blink Personal for a long time. Although, I'm not sure if giving away 1 year licenses per email counts. o_O

I will try it when it goes over 80% detection rate(if will ever happen) and gets out of the beta stage.

During installation, it lets you NOT install the AV. That's good BUT -- does anyone know whether the other components (firewall & HIPS) will work as well WITHOUT the AV as they do WITH it?

    During installation...

***It tried to get me to install their Tray Tool. Sad to say, this item defaults to "Yes I want it" -- in other words it's set to automatically Opt-In unless you UN-check the Opt-in blocks.

***It tried to sell me the Plus (non-free) version.

Fortunately, I kept awake during install (at my age I sometimes tend to doze off if someone doesn't poke me in the ribs from time to time). o_O

Interesting looks like that works only for autonomous executables
not e.g. for patched windows files.

Yes, Off course! You install CAV, You get Picture 1. You install Firewall, You get picture 2 (Includes Defense+).

And if you want to Add/Remove CAV/Firewall After installation without re installating, Run the uninstaller Wizard, It should be on "Add/Remove" Click "Next" and Remove/Add the Firewall/AV.

CAV 2.0 was not to Comodo's liking, So they didn't make it a production release and re built CAV 3.0 from scratch & integrated in CFP 3 to create CIS for further security & usability (You will see less pop ups). It's a matter of time for detections to increase DRAMATICALLY & WILL improve!

And if anyone is interested in reporting FP's: https://forums.comodo.com/false_positive_reporting_is_this_a_malware_that_cis_has_detected-b154.0/

    From eEye security;

Who is eligible for the free offer?

Personal and home users may use one free license of Blink Personal Endpoint Security software for one year from the date of activation, if you live in the United States and Canada, or for 30 days if you live outside of these countries. If you need endpoint security at work, please try our Blink Professional product, which is designed with the features, scalability, centralized management, and controls needed for business security.

Comodo is free for life :)

Yes, I saw that you did. Perhaps CIS fan-boyz have tunnel vision.

By the way, Blink (the proponent of eeye) does allow additional years -- something like Avast. Nevertheless, CIS is a superb package, especially for a freebie.

1 year license per email does count, however the 30-days lincense for non-americans/canadians is no different than any commercial software trial version. That is, which doesn't count.
