What was the hold-up on the release of the 2008 version? The Chinese version has been out for ages. Why did it take so long for the 2008 version to launch globally?

On the other hand, I heard Rising 2008 does have some detection rate improvements. How significant these improvements are remains to be seen. There does seem to be a kind of proactive defense module integrated into the product now. :)

My guess, from everything I've read in the past, is no. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find any AV that is better at detection than Avira. Or course, I'm only jusging that based on tests. But RISING is one to keep your eye on.

Detection for Rising tends to be rather second tier from recent tests. Wouldn't use it at this point.

    A Chinese antivirus ? I shouldn't be biased.

    But still, I am.

I haven't seen it in a major review like av-comparatives.

I have been tested it for a short time now and no issues. Actually it is packaged very nice for the dummie like me or the ability to configure for the expert like most of you. It isnt bad.

It has been tested at av-comparatives; see for example the "Test of other AV products" in February, 2007, one of the special tests.

Further, it has been tested recently over at av-test. org.

Yes, its not bad at all, but IMO it still has a way to go before it becomes really good :)

China has to do better (than Belgium) otherwise it will never get an international reputation.
No wonder RAV couldn't find anything on my computer, a detection rate of 94.1% is not enough, so a rising detection rate is recommended. ;)
