A newer version of ESET Smart Security 3.0.642 has been released. It's downloadable from official download pages (the version information will be updated shortly).

Currently it's available in English, Slovak and Czech. Other language and trial versions will be released shortly as soon as they pass tests.

    Changelog:

    - Fixed problem with installation on machines with older version of CheckPoint
    - Fixed some firewall-related problems
    - Fixed report of false network attacks
    - Fixed problem with network browsing
    - Fixed problem with spurious firewall rule creation
    - Fixed problem with Web Access Protection module in Windows Vista
    - Fixed problems in Outlook Express and Windows Mail:
    1. disappearing user account information
    2. inability to send receipt/delivery reports
    3. rules for coloring specific messages
    - Other small fixes

Can this be installed over .621? If not and previous version should be removed can the ESS settings from .621 be imported?

Working great here, ended up uninstalling the 621 version and installed 642, imported settings from 621.

@BlindSight - don't know for sure but did not see the 'Phantom Rule' or 'New Rule' problem when installing 642 on any of my three PCs. Did see it on the 621 version when a fresh install was done on my Vista PC. Time will tell.

This fix may have corrected the problem '- Fixed problem with spurious firewall rule creation'.

Kudos to the gang at Eset, thanks a million!

Yes, it can. Just choose "keep current settings" and wait for it to finish. Don't even have to reboot! ;-)

Will we receive this new build along with the daily updates, or must we go to the website and intentionally download it? :doubt:

You'll need to download and install it. As long as you have your username and password Downloading it will be no problem. I installed it right over the previous version with no problem at all. It kept all my settings intact.

bought an ESS license a few months ago but not had bottle to install untill I read this thread. Had decided to stick with AV 2.7. Just installed it tho on a new Vista machine and everything seems great.

I don't know if it's the new build of Eset smart Security but my Windows Vista x64 have strange bugs since I installed build 642.
