MOON SECURE AV version 2

y dont u check it out for urself? some programs go with computers, some dont!

 

not sure i would even try that one. ive never even heard of it. do they tell you what engine it has or is it thier own?

 

i think it uses the clamav engine.

 

even siteadvisor does not no!

 

Wrong ! They used this engine but in their beta version they use a new engine (no name however) BUT with heuristic scan ... i tried to use it in a virtual environment but it didn't work out ...

its not really wrong. they are still using the clamav in their current version as quoted from the site:

"Moon Secure AV is an opensource antivirus currently using the clamav engine due to fast response time and huge AV database"

sorry starter but I have to disagree with you because if you read further they state : "however we are implementing another engine that is heuristic and will allow users to customize the engine on the fly. Unlike clam it has an enterprise level real-time scanner"
check out the "download section" you'll find two versions : the stable (which is indeed using the clamav) and the Beta which is using the new engine ...

 

ok. let me rephrase then. they are using the Clamav in their current stable version...

 

To me it sounds like devs are using the ClamAV engine combined with their own heuristic eninge.

Well, there are actually only 2 that can be used even for commercial purpose.
MoonAV and Comodo CAVS. Others are free but limited to personal home usage only.

Just out of curosity, when did this turn into a discussion of commercial av's??

 

hmm some interesting stuff he said there. i wonder how correct or uncorrect he is about that statement..?? if that is true then many are in trouble..unless they up the ante on their av's.. do you believe it?

 

No problem IMO, bigC. Seems to me that it was just an off-hand comment -- not a thread stealer.

As to Moony's XstormX -- his comments indicate that he is more technically adept at security stuff than I had previously thought. I certainly wish that Stefan K or Inspector Clouseau/HappyBytes would comment on what he said.
