I myself like the size of things using low-res. However many programs necitate switching between resolutions or else the "GO" buttons and stuff are "off the screen" and to read some files even 'surfing' entails that painful 'left to right' slide bar :shifty: just to see the whole page.

Maybe i should up my Res. and learn to squint.

Both my monitors are at their native 1280 by 1024 resolution. I have good eye sight so it doesnt bother me.

My 19" monitor can handle many resolutions, from 800x600 to 1920x1440, but I prefer 1024x768, not too big not too small.
If I use 1920x1440 all my desktop icons are in the left top corner of my desktop. ;)

Switching to TrueType was a sensational improvement, even Wilders looked better. :)

If it's smaller than 19" standard monitor then definitely 1024x768. I currently got a 19" standard monitor running at 1024x768, I love the size and still looks sharp.

    I got a 17" monitor & I've just changed from 800x600 to 1024 by 768. It's been a few hours now and I think I'm getting used to it.

!024x768 not to big, most websites don't have scroll bars to see the entire picture.

    Hello,
I use 1024x768 on 17' and 19' monitors most of the time, save SUSE, which is 1280x1024 on the 19' monitor. I like big fonts and big items, I don't like to squint and such. When I was younger I preferred smaller size but got reformed. Must be the reverse-pseudo-DOS reaction.
    Mrk

Me too. Age 60-plus with a 17 inch (I think) monitor, and I spend enough hours at the comp that I might as well be comfy.

One exception - I do have to bump to 1024x768 for one game, which came out with a new version late last week which assumes hardly anyone uses 800x600 any more.

oh and +1.5 reading glasses, which probably should +2 but I'm still trying to fool myself I can see as well as any 30 year old despite the fact I'm rushing towards 60. [ 60? surely that can't be right :( ]
