This seems to be in beta phase so let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

Just because they're called "Tools" doesn't mean they are good tools. :D For instance, I can buy mechanics tools at Wal-Mart (technically they are tools) ....or I can buy from Snap-On and get quality tools. :D :D ;)

....kinda the same thing with PCTools :D :D;)

Three do so far, at least. ThreatFire, the firewall and a doohickey called Threat Expert.

And this one is a sure winner in my books, eMule-Project classified as 'potentially malicious' (red rating, apparently for linking to sourceforge?) http://www.browserdefender.com/site/emule-project.net/

The only things malicious I have seen there is the occasional flaming :D And the sourceforge itself? Man that is bad :) hacktools & gambling (lol)

I wonder if PC-Tools is using their Antivirus and Antispyware software to scan these downloads on their servers. That's just shocking to see so many FPs.

I think they do. When you click on a file, the Download Analysis shows SD Threat Level, AV Threat Level, and TE Threat Level. Spyware Doctor, AntiVirus, and Threat Expert.

Anyone knows if it does actually scan the scripts for hacks on sites or just rate them based on profiled white/black lists by user vote?

So far I see no place for user input other than just messaging them directly. I'm not entirely sure what they are using for technologies either. Overall - even for a beta it's a little underwhelming. I typed in 'screen savers' in Google and most of the results came up with question marks. I'm also giving them the benefit of the doubt though. I dont bag on PC-Tools like some peeps in these forums.

Symantec.com passes the test, lol :D

Also I wonder who took the name "Browser Defender" from the other? :ninja:

Looks like this technology still needs more than a little work! :cautious:

That date is only shows on the blank submission near the bottom. The real submission (with realistic date) can be seen near the top.

I dont know why the second submission is there though.
