Where is the registration link to obtain the serial?

 

I have Paragon Hard Disk Manager that was free a while back. Love it and along with just one or two other programs, it's one I'll always have on my computer. Even a computer idiot like me could figure it out without much hassle.

 

Download the installer and when you are installing it there is a link in the registration gui.

Hit that and fill out the details and when you get your serial, copy and paste it somewhere safe then you can either go ahead and install or cancel the installation and setup whenever.

How would I obtain the bootable or rescue disk? As I feel its better than the installed versions of these type programs. And will this resize Linux partitions?

 

Haven't had a look or installed it as yet.

I trialed Paragon Hard Disk Manager, it has a function to create a Recovery CD, but it didn't work, it didn't recognize my USB external harddisk.
BUT you can beg for a WinPE Recovery CD, if you can prove you bought the software.
SP was still faster than PHDM according my backup tests. Nothing seems to beat SP, but that won't last forever.
FDISR is still the fastest (archives), but isn't really an image backup software either.

 

Hi - I have the older PPM 2005 installed (free VNUnet version) and Paragon replied to an email I sent (good service) that the Magazine version did not have the image of the bootable CD available, only the purchased version....assume maybe the same for PPM 8.5 but have not installed (or asked) yet..

I don't know, since I don't have a clean CD. Every time we go shopping, I have buying a box of CD's on my list and every time I forget.

Build Recovery Media
In addition to the backup tools described above, the program provides the possibility to prepare a set of recovery tools on external media (CD, DVD or floppy disks). The tool set can be of assistance in case of operating system corruption, which means that the user is able to boot the computer even when the operating system is not able to do so. Creation of such recovery tools is performed with the Recovery Media. Recovery Media is a CD or DVD (or even a floppy disk) from which the user can boot and recover the system. Wizard.

 

it will see your linux partitions and should be able to shrink them.

The purchased version of 8.5 recovery CD has several options which I really appreciate. It provides USB support; copy files from one drive to another; copy files and burn a data copy CD or DVD; plus other disk management functions. I think it is money well spent. I have this version and I also have Acronis True Image Home v10 and I like using them both.

 

If you look in the directory where the HDM freebie gets installed, you will see a sub-directory called ISO. There'is a bootcd.iso file there which you can burn and use as a recovery CD.

You can create bootable media from within the program

As for resizing, it's good for resizing Windows partitions (I have used it a lot), but I don't trust it for resizing linux partition. I tried to resize a ReiserFS partion, and Paragon corrupted it Thankfully there was nothing important on that partition.

So at least if you use ReiserFS, you should instead use Reiser's own tool for resizing - it even supports online growth (you can grow the partition without unmounting it first).

I dunno about ext2/ext3 though - maybe Paragon can resize them fine.

Burnt the iso to cd and seems to work fine.

 

Ok -So that is the question thats left for me. I think I'm using ext3 as it was the default FS offered.
