    Greetings All,

As most of you know, the retail version, inclusive of our technology FirstDefense-ISR, was recently removed from Raxco's product line-up due to an internal corporate decision within Raxco to be a vendor instead of a reseller.

Horizon DataSys, known for their award winning Rollback RX product, immediately approached us to become a strategic partner and take on the role of distribution, marketing, and support.

Although the official annoucement date is on June 25th, the Wilder's Security Forums gets to hear it first. So stay tuned for the official press release and more details later. We are very excited, and really look forward to this partnership.

You can find more information about it here.

    It is indeed good news.

I hope the support will be offered free to ex raxco users who lost faith when no help was offered in the 'inbetween' time. Otheres, including myself had to uninstall FD because of this.

How cool is that :) Rollback and FDISR on the same site. I have struggled many times of which one to use, coz Rollback has a great idea. I´m sure it has developed since I used it last year and had some problems. FDISR won though, but I´m keeping my eye on RB still.
    Great news :thumb:

Well, if FD-ISR had to change a house, I can't think of a better one than Horizon DataSys.
I like this symbiosis. :D Good news. :)

They sure will, that would be a good marketing move. Complementary applications...

What will happen to future FD-ISR product UPDATES for us who purchased it from Raxco? Will the program still internally update.....or would we have to re-purchase FD-ISR again from the NEW vendor?

    Thanks.

Rollback has been widely discussed in the software and services forum. Do a search on Rollback. Forum policy is that there isn't a forum for two products in the same category.

This move has got to going to have HUGE implications for BOTH of these standout Rollback Apps.

I'm already totally sold on FD-ISR :thumb: and been chomping madly at the bits for Rollback Rx to finally drop a better version of theirs onto the distribution field.

I think i might have just got my wish :D

Anything can change, but I suspect it is highly unlikely this one will. There is no problem discussing rollback as it stands now.

Yep, I have to agree, it is an awesome duo.

The other thing, and I can't yet try it on my desktop, but on my VM machine, I have FDISR,Rollback and ReturnIL. How is that for awesome overkill.

Congratulations Todd and kudos to HDS for seeing a good thing.

Does this mean our " connection" with Raxco is now severed?

Will HDS be retrieving all our contact/registration/licensing details?

Will we we be updating as per our initial purchase contracts with Raxco. through HDS now.

While I am pleased, I remember real difficulties with HDS support in previous ages. To be honest I had a license for HDS (v5 or something and uninstalled it way back when there were some lllooonnnggg threads here with Chris and peter and acadia and silver and sukarof et al and went with FDISR as first line tool) as I recall there were real issues with support and personnell moving back and forth with some other rebadged app and imo pretty crappy forum support.

I am happy to be disabused of this impression: any RBRx users care to comment.

The support I had with Raxco and in particular with Sherri/Susie backed up by devs was astonishing ( and effective). ANy chance of luring her to HDS :)

I am interested in the model of having 2 apparently competing and really not compatible apps ( subject to a very distinguishing user base ;) knowing both tools outside in) available from the same reseller: who/what will be promoted and supported as primary?

I know part of this sounds like sour grapes, I really, REALLY want this new arrangement to work and am happy to contribute to get that end result.

    Just thinking out loud.
    Regards.

I think this is a great idea.

Todd, does this mean FD-ISR & Rollback will be merging technologies?

That is good news. I am using both applications together (Rollback V7) and am very happy with the following exceptions:

I have had chkdsk problems with Rollback V8 which result in having to restore a backup image. The chkdsk problem also trashes other partitions on the same hard drive.

You have to uninstall/reinstall Rollback to do a defrag. This requires you to email Horizon for a reset of your activation. I hear this is going to be fixed sometime in July only with V8.

The Rollback forum is not intuitive and it is difficult to navigate.

Horizon has been very slow to fix all of the above.
