    Hi Guys,

As I type this I'm listening to 'Leo Laporte's', radio show. He also complained, on the air, about the same problem. He was trying to search google to answer a listeners question. You might want to check, as the listener Leo, was talking to, google worked fine.

I recently got the same thing.

BTW my query was "betanews". "cnet" and "wilders security forums" also were blocked.

    Hi Ron, Ws Fuser

    I searched for 'Shadow Protect.'

Also using another search engine. For this problem email the following:

    forbidden@google.com

I just recieved an automated response.

Perhaps this is a problem for Southern Calif. or Calif.

There are apparantly a few conditions that cause that error trap at Google. Many deal with tools used to check a website's index level, though some appear to be related to requests being funneled through common proxy servers. (If lots of people share a proxy and all are doing Google searches, collectively they could be sending a very large volume of queries to Google in a short amount of time, and they all appear to be from a single user, so Google suspects automation of querying, perhaps by an infection.). Personally, I view that Google message as a type of catch-all error page that they use based upon different criteria they are checking for, in order to prevent various types of service abuse. Unfortunately, they also end up blocking people doing completely legitimate and innocent things.

There's more on some of that in this thread:

    Hello,

I get this once in a while, maybe once a month or so.
    I solve the problem by:

    Reloading the page
    Clearing cache
    Clearing cache and cookies
    Some or all combined

Except the twilight zone thingie that I had with FF / Opera browser, which I cannot possibly explain... Always solved this within seconds.

    Mrk
