Programs and hardware for blind users

Hi all,

I was not sure whether we have already a special thread with information about programs and hardware for blind users.
So I start this thread.

Maybe there are foundations or organisations in your country that might give information and help for blind users.
If you know of such an organisation in your country, please feel free to post a link.

There is a program called JAWS.
It is a screen reader.

Unfortunatily JAWS is expensive to buy.

I still have to find the time to try the voice recognition though. But it reads fine, you just have to get the right voices.

PS: If anyone finds good voices, specially "SAPI5 voices", give the links here too.

We use it on our www sites. If you visit www.bradford.nhs.uk for example and you have browsealoud installed it will read the website out to you.

I forgot to mention, Opera has voice recognition and reads text out loud.
There was another program, can't remember the name, freeware.
Paid, there's Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
