Cureently running K.I.S 6 on my main machine, with norton looking after my secondary machine. Am now looking for a 3rd suite for my sons machine so am watching this poll closely
I don't trust Security Suite, I am nervous that if it is infected then the whole security set-up that it suppose to be protected will collapse without warning. I prefer an individually solidly built security softwares. At least they have an individual "talents and abilities" that they specializes on.
I don't use Internet Security but if I use, I will use F-Secure or Zonealarm. Kaspersky IS isn't an IS IMO. Because it doesn't include an antispyware engine. It catches spys by antivirus engine like Dr.Web, NOD32 or F-prot.
Use a la carte approach: 1) ZA Pro 7 with ASW turned off except as on demand when updated 2) BD AV10 3) SS with AV turned off except as on demand when updated ADWARE se personal monthly run That's it, except for router
I too prefer stand alone security apps for the same reasons as previously stated. After a few years using ZASS, I learn from experience.
I don't use internet security suites either. These suites are developped for users, who want an all-in-one security software to make everything simpler and easier. A Firewall Company wants a suite, they have a firewall, but no AV and no AS. So they get both somewhere else. An AntiVirus Company wants a suite, so they get the firewall and AS somewhere else. Frankenstein did the same thing and gathered a head, arms, legs, ... from different bodies to create a monster. It's obvious to me that these suites are incomplete and less good than a collection of specialized softwares.
KIS at the moment, but had F-Secure run properly on my machine, it would have been a close call. Norton runs OK, but slows start up too much.
norton from present bunch, but i share the same views as "thunderz"......yet to find the perfect suite...
Perhaps Security Suites have gotten a bad rap from their earlier incarnations. As they have matured, they seem to be getting more capable and perhaps even better than the sum of their parts... synergy, you know! My husband who is in charge of Computer Security at the company where he works uses the ZoneAlarm Security Suite v7 on his home desktop and thinks the world of it. When he tried ZASS v6, he wasn't particularly thrilled with it because of what he considered a so-so AV. But now he tells me it uses Kaspersky's AV together with the ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall, which he believes is an unbeatable combination. He keeps telling me to try it on my laptop, so stay tuned...
I use KIS here, haven't had any issues with it, works great! also lighter on resources than using a AV + FW
