    Is that product intended for consumers, or just corporations?

    It is intended for corporations, you need a corporate license for that.

    IMHO, coporate versions of antivirus software are usually better and more configurable than the consumer version. Both the consumer and the enterprise versions of VirusScan are using the same engine, but the enterprise version has more configuration options than VirusScan Home. In addition, you can perform offline virus signature update for the enterprise version.

    The release candidate is not there anymore, VSE8.5 for Mac is there for evaluation but no sign for VSE8.5 for Windows.

    @Legendkiller:

    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\DesktopProtection and on the right change bSkipSplash Dword value to 1 to deactivate the splash screen.

    Is this program usable for a home user or is it advisable just not to use it? Any reason why a home user shouldn't?

    the regular version of VirusScan may be easier for home users but if they can get VSE legally, then they should go ahead. its doesnt have the security center and its more configurable.

    There is no Home version legally available but you may be able to obtain it through your University/College/work place if they have a site license.

    IME, a much better product than the Retail McAfee AV. Leaner, more features/options and a lightweight RTM. Just make sure that any Patches are applied.
