i dont recall a 2007 version being on the ashampoo website, but as i do use this program ill grab it anyways.

edit: the installer mentions this: Buy the Upgrade to Ashampoo Burning Studio 6!

so is this between v5 and v6 or what?

edit 2: it wont uninstall

Can anyone tell me if it still has the "Update an existing CD/DVD" feature in this new version?

I have version 5 and I use this feature all the time.

    Thanks,

I have V6 and comparing the menu to that in the 2007 screenshot, the following items are missing from the 2007 freebie: "Backup or restore files and folders" and "Burn Movies".

I have the paid 6.3 release and the price was only $13. They give you a discount right away. :thumb:

    Exactly!
Although one feature is missing in Ashampoo's Burning Studio: El-Torito Bootable CD's.
I only want to mention this.

I installed the 2007 release (6.2) and it seems that it doesn't let you update to newer releases (6.3).
But you are able to purchase the supported updates for only $9.99.
If you are interested in updates for this sofware, this would be an affordable option.

I installed it too without problems, because I'm also looking for an Nero alternative.
I'm doing my burnings in the best circumstances and Nero still fails sometimes.

I didn't like the GUI of the available popular freewares either, so I give this one a chance. As long it works, I don't need the updates. :)

Thanks wilbertnl for the info. Nero came with my DVD drive and I have always hated the lack of program install options as I only ever use the burning features. Nice to find what looks to be a decent alternative.

Same here. I have burned a couple of DVD's and all went smoothly enough. Nice gui and no bloat!

try this software once and this will be a perfect alternative to nero. but for other reason. when i burn on cd or dvd, its burn perfectly but when verifying, i get some error that i need to change cd or dvd. but when i use nero, it burns and verify perfectly. maybe a writer compatibility.

    to bad for me.....=(

Did you check for firmware updates for your CD/DVD writer?

I looked at the AShampoo support page for documentation/manual for Ahampo Buring Studio 2007.

    What are the system requirements?

THe download is only a bit over 8MB, is this really a full product?

What about movies? Does anyone know if it can recode in order to fit a DVD move onto a single layer DVD?

LOL- I suppose you could recode it with Nero, then copy it...

Well I tried this software :

    Job-1
Used Software : Ashampoo Burning Studio 2007 v6.20
    Used CD/DVD Writer : BenQ DW1640
Simple job : burning an ISO-file on CD

Result : burning was successfull, verification ended with ERRORS.

    Job-2
Used Software : Nero StartSmart v6.6.1.4
    Used CD/DVD Writer : BenQ DW1640
Simple job : burning an ISO-file on CD

Result : burning was successfull, verification was successfull.

    Decision
    Ditched Ashampoo and kept Nero.
It will take longer than I thought to find a replacement for Nero.
Meanwhile Ashampoo likes to send me numerous emails. Pffft.
