Been getting this error and seems to only appear when windows update is being used (icon in tray)
Only happens on one machine. Both running the same programs.
    XPpro/sp2. Nod32,Outpost,Boclean and superanti spyware.

Have three images so guess I will have two replies.

    Thanks

That's funny, I get the exact same problem with ALG.exe! ESET know about it and they've asked me to try exclude the ALG (Application Layer Gateway) service from IMON which, in my opinion, would only create a security hole - so I've not done it, but at the same time not had this problem for a while.

I would suggest repairing Winsock, then repair IMON; see post number 40 HERE

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

I had the same error with svchost crashing just into start-up, after logon. If you are getting the message:

"svchost.exe -- application error the instruction at "0x745f2780" reference memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be 'read'.

After much research it seems the issue is with Microsoft Update. Please see the post at http://swigartconsulting.blogs.com/tech_blender/2006/07/windows_update_.html for guidance. I've now disabled MU and left Windows Update to do it's thing. Seems to work.
