So will the DDoS people chalk this up as a victory? I'm sure there were other contributing factors, but they were getting hit pretty frequently, I think. :(

I think this was a long time coming. The last I remember going there, most of the forums were slowly dwindling away, a few not having been touched in a year or so. Couple that with all the attacks, and no, there is no shocker here.

That is sad news indeed they had some great resources. I really thought CC would continue long after Paul left but it looks not to be.

I really liked CC and I am very sad to see that this has happened to such an informative website. :( I just wish they let some of us have a little saving frenzy on the info they provided on there. It was extremely useful for everyone.

    CC will be missed.:'(

I'll miss them as well. :(

Wish now I'd used iterasi to grab useful threads before they closed doors.

If anyone knows how to contact someone from CC to get those wonderful resources please do tell. I'm sure we could all do with some of that valuable info. :)

May CC live long in our hearts and minds :D

I was a member, but it had been a long time since my last visit. I am a regular here, is that how one of these great forums dies. People stop showing up. Maybe someone can help explain this to me. I just don't understand. :( This was no small outlet for that type of forum was it?

It was indeed a good place to gather good information from some good people. :'(

Sad news... Castlecops was a great place and had some talented people.

I was aware that activity was less than what it used to be there but not that they would close :|

It's certainly a shame whatever the circumstance...

CC will be missed no doubt.

Here is resource page from Google cache:
    http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache...com/CastleCops#Links&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=7&gl=us

I should add that if you put "castlecops.com wiki" into Google, it will return all pages of the Wiki with cached versions. Seems the entire wiki is cached, the rest of the website, only selected pages. Also, for some reason, the owners blocked the Internet Archive from archiving their site with a robots.txt file excluding the Internet Archive. Too bad. You would think they would have wanted the good information collected to live on.

edit: To make it easier for others..... Here is Google Cache of "List Of Freeware Security Software".... You will then need to put each link address into Google and you'll find the cached version of each category from the main list.
    http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache...:castlecops.com wiki&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=9&gl=us

Another edit.....I went ahead and got all these cached pages. This is too much good information, collected by CastleCops members, to go to waste. I don't know when Google will spider the CastleCops site the next time, but when they do, these will be gone. So, use them while you can!

These pages are all links from the "Freeware Security Software" page......

    Hi philby,
We are assessing the situation and will do our best to get our support forums on-line as soon as possible. This was a shock as we recieved no warning or alert from the management so are reacting at this point like evryone else affected.

Posts here at Wilder's will continue to recieve active/timely replies and until we have a new forum set up, always feel free to send your RVS questions directly to our support address.

    With Kind regards
    Mike

I have compiled most of the wiki pages. If anyone would like them just give me a shout.

It was painstakingly hard for me to do this. Individual pages suck :'(

For those wishing they had access to the resources page and the "Freeware Security Tools" section from the wiki, I have rescued them and listed them in a post above. However, that is a pain for everyone and I have just finished a project that should make this much easier for everyone.

You can download all of the above in one .pdf file (131 pages - but only 1.3mb in size) with live links at this address: http://drop.io/morentzy

I used pdf ReDirect to create one big file from the individual pages. I was able to make the links inside clickable by using the professional edition of PDF ReDirect.

I hope some of you find the collection, worked on forever by CastleCops members, useful and enjoyable.

I should add that you may also view the file with drop.io's iPaper viewer on the site - just click on "Full Page View".
