I have a WD 2.5" laptop drive in an external USB casing. The drive itself functions fine since it's been used directly from windows, etc.

So, how come T/I can't use this drive; surely it *should* simply be using some form of Windows API's to write the disk, so, should not be hyper sensitive to the fact that it's USB, or otherwise.

In Windows (XP) terms, it's simply just another fixed disk.

Probably something to do with the chipset in the usb enclosure. Do you have another usb storage device to use and see if TI will see it?

So are you saying Ti can't see it from windows, or from the boot disk or neither.
It should use it thru windows, if windows uses it.
From the boot cd it could be the chip drivers.
