Could any of you kind experts tell me if you know of any conflicts that DefenseWall or Geswall has with the following software?
    Im running Xp Pro SP2.
    1) Zonealarm Firewall 5.5 free
    2) Avast Home free
    3) MalwareBytes Antimalware free
    4) SpywareBlaster free
    5) Superantispyware free

Im really concerned in my mind with the Avast Home conflicting with either of the 2 HIPS programs.
You see, in Avast Home, you cant disable real-time monitoring, like you can do in Avast Premium Professional.
So, everytime my system restarts, i have to manually stop the 'real-time protection', because well, it takes 6-7 seconds longer to load, which is a tad annoying. :p

So is there any conflict that i should expect with the above mentioned applications running?
    Please advice.

I forgot to add, what really inspired me to want to try them out, is the review from Matt on youtube.
You can see the playlists of both Defensewall and Geswall here:

I have been using DefenseWall for several months now and no problems with my setup. Don't know why I didn't use it before. Great program and easy to use. I believe you can use the full version as a trial for 30 days. I have not tried Geswall so cannot comment on it.

If you install GesWall, be sure to do a complete system image before hand. I installed it about a fortnight ago on XP, and unfortunately it bricked my system so badly the Windows recovery disk couldn't even see the partition. I didn't even get to see the GesWall interface.

I've read quite a few others experienced various issues with the latest 2.9 version, it seems a little beta'ish and not ready for prime time.

Do try it, but make a full image just in case.

I'd used GesWall since 2.7 version: it has emprouved his stabiljty, I never had problems with 2.9 version: it runs very well and it's a very powerful defense. I say: GesWall.

Thanks guys for all your replies.
I thought Matt on youtube was perhaps favoring GesWall over DefenseWall in his reviews.
I think im going to choose Defensewall for now because it has a default removeable drive protection, that is for my USB flash drives very important.

By the way, is the defensewall version 2.45 able to be bypassed?
I see that seemed stable in the video, so i want to use that version.

try both and then decide. Geswall latest build has some issues with some users and development is slow but you have option of free version.

Ok, i have 2 laptops and i desktop, i tried Geswall on another spare PC and it seems to want NTFS as the partition, while it is FAT32.

    And what about DW 2.45?
Is it able to be bypassed by malware?
Because i have that version number i downloaded long time ago.
    i wanna try that one.

    Lebowsky,

Have a look at a really fast suit for free now FortiClient.

Remove all your other realtime security software

I assume you have a not so fast CPU, so only implement FireWall and Antivirus (choose custom setup). Set the antivirus to check only at writes (advanced options).

Now download Hitman Pro http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro and run this every now and then as a checkup.

Download A2 Free and put a short cut in your Program Startup Group with the following "C:\Program Files\a-squared Free\a2cmd.exe" /U
This will update A2 every time you log on. With the right context menu you can check any program you want to install with A2 (do not forget to set it as trusted with DefenseWall or otherwise DW will block installation).

Install your lisenced copy of DW 2.45

You will have strong protection (you can keep SAS/MBAM free and run it every now and then like hitman pro)

    Regards Kees

The last version is always recommended. Yes, 2.45 can be bypassed.
