Is anyone very familair with Norton Ghost 12? I was wondering about scheduling and if I schdule multiple backups (say an incremental, files & folders, etc...) one right after another - does Ghost wait until one is completed before starting another?

    Thanks for any help.

P.S. Also any advice for the best way to backup my system.

    I have:
    1. main drive (C) (500GB capacity)
    2. external usb drive (500GB capacity)
    3. another external usb drive (500GB capacity)

I thought it would be good to have a redundent backup strategy, but then again, I'm not sure the best way to do this. What I think I'm going to do is:

    1. An incremental nightly to one drive
    2. A complete image nightly to another drive
    3. Folders & Files to the 2nd drive nightly too

Maybe this is over-kill? Or a better way?

    Thank you again,
    Paul

    Yes. It won't miss any.

Please see this page for a backup strategy.

Thanks Brian - I tested it out last night and you're right, Ghost just started the next backup after the other had finished.

I'll post a new thread about backup strategies, your link was helpful but maybe more specific ideas for my situation would be good as well.

    Thank you again,
    Paul

    Nailzaz,

I use Ghost 12 in one of my computers. Daily incrementals take 30 seconds. Weekly baselines take less than 10 minutes. My daily data backup (incremental with SecondCopy, not Ghost) takes 3 minutes. You only have to do one initial data baseline backup. All backup is done automatically to the second HD. Occasional copies of these backups are done at leisure to a secondary site.

But you need to separate your data from your OS as outlined in the link I posted. Imaging a 500 GB partition with a lot of data is going to take time. I wouldn't do it.

Hey guys, thank you again for the great advice and I'm working on some backup strategies with the help you've given me.

I did run into a problem last night after creating an image of my drive with bad sectors. I posted a new thread about it here and would certainly like some feedback if you can help.

    Thank you again,
    Paul
