KAV vs. NOD32: Who wins?

Hello, just a little opinion thing as usual Who wins?

Just a little thing because I haven't a clue which to choose? Really who wins? I've heard the thing about NOD32 but KAV is classic, you gotta admit? Basically it's down to personal choice but I want the best!

 

You wont get a definative answer. Both have their fans and both will say theirs is the best.

Probably better to trial them on your machine (one at a time of course) and see which suits you best.

I use NOD and havent looked back. If you trial it, make sure you use Blackspears settings.

+1... try them both out and see which you prefer. personally, i prefer Kaspersky, but to be honest, you cant go wrong with either... both excellent products... try them both out.

For overall detection, I believe KAV has come out on top in the last couple of reviews (PC World or Magazine as well as the latest AV-Comparatives). I think both are excellent, but I'd give the "nod" to Kav.

 

KAV is the clear winner. Listen to your instincts. Personally, I feel safer with KAV, so I'm using it even though I prefer NOD32 for it's stability. NOD32's signature detection is just average, so use it as an on-demand scanner for it's superior heuristics. In other words, use both. That way, if KAV flakes out on you due to bugs, etc., you'll have the added benefit of NOD32 being ready to take over full time.

 

KAV seems a pain to uninstall and install. I can't get it to flippin run.

KAV is overly sensitive to remnants of uninstalled anti-virus programs like Norton. The best way to get a clean install is to reformat and install KAV before your firewall. Post on the Kaspersky forum and tell them what you've had on your system in the past, and they may be able to save you from reformatting.

 

In my opinion Kav is the better product at the moment,but that could change with next generation of products,but who knows what the future holds?

 

A format is a little drastic don't you think?there are other ways of completely removing software:-just takes a bit more patience

 

its usually because other AV software leaves remnants on the PC which clash with Kaspersky... simply using their dedicated uninstaller tools do the job

 

heres what i think,

kaspersky has the best detection,
nod has the best heuristics

nod is more stable, and 'just works'
kaspesky has more features

you choose.

 

Both are execellent programs. I think KAV have the upperhand at the moment, but difference is very small. Which ever you choose, you cant go wrong. It really comes down to what you want and what it is important to you. I would say that try both of them and then decide. Thats what i did!

Both will do. KAV for maximum security, NOD for its lightness.

AOL Acitve Virus Shield based on Kaspersky is very easy to isntall and run.

 

Doesn't the AOL program lack the PDM feature?

there is no who wins.
both are great products.
I use kis6.0 myself and am pleased with it.
its all down to what product works better on your pc and you like more.
so do a trial of both and decide which one to part your cash.

Back to AOL AVS. AVS does lack the PDM, but it should have the same detection rate as KAV far as signatures go, correct?

its just it lacks the pdm,webav and the trusted zone

I like, and have a license, for both.

NOD is lighter, but KAV makes me feel safer. I use KAV at the moment, but its all down to personal preference. Try 'em both.

 

I like the Kaspersky range mainly because of the sheer amount of updates they issue, and just lately, they seem to have been adding a huge amount, more than normal. The hourly average appears to be about 25 signatures if their viruswatch is anything to go by.

 

Everyone wins. Both are great programs.
