    Just want to add...

What ceperkins is upset about seems to be a failure to effectively communicate with your customers. This seems synonymous with the concerns that have been expressed relating to the the release of TDS-4. :doubt:

Diamond CS web site does say they are going on vacation. "Please note that we are on Christmas/New Years break until the 12th of January. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!"

The web site also says that they plan on releasing Tds 4 by the end of 2004.
"Is there a future planned for the scanner?"
Over the years we've seen a lot of anti-trojan scanners come and go, and we don't see that changing. However, TDS was here from the beginning, and it's here to stay - remember, DiamondCS was established in 1986! It all started with TDS-1 when the very first remote access trojans (Acid Shivers, NetBus, Back Orifice, Sokets de Troie) were released and we're now working on TDS-4 for a release in 2004. We have big plans for TDS and we'd like to extend an invitation to you for you to enjoy them!

The same competitors who only add a few trojans to their databases each day anyway compared to 50-150 that are added nearly each day with TDS. 8 new trojans is nothing in the big scheme of things - they're still thousands behind TDS. We could add 8 trojans easily now and release an update just for the sake of it if it would make you somehow feel more secure but you won't be any more protected than you already are as there have been no new major trojan threats anyway so there hasnt been a need for a holiday database update, so if you're worrying about no database update then you're just worrying about amateur trojans that you'll probably never encounter in your life - in other words, there's no need to worry. If anything major is released then we're ready to add detection for it that day as we always have, so there is nothing to be concerned about :). We'll probably be releasing a small database update later today as there are a few trojans that Gavin wants added but they're definately not major threats.

We only ever officially take a couple of weeks off each year (by law we have to) but we still keep working - Gavin has still been collecting trojans each day, myself and Jason have still been programming each day, even members of our beta team have been busy developing skins for the TDS4 interface during their holiday time.

Anyway we'll be officially back next week so even if there still hasn't been any major trojans released there will be a database update then anyway and daily database updates will resume.

Until then enjoy the rest of the holiday break, and importantly try and get a break from the computer and spend some time with your friends and family.
Happy New Year to you all. :)
