Some of us believe that the Internet will eventually replace all centralized government. It's rather like abstracting the US Constitution, updating it, and applying it to the entire global population. But that will require privacy.

Off topic post removed. Let's leave the speculation behind concerning this issue. Facts only should be posted.

This is the most pathetic argument I've ever heard regarding internet privacy.

Acutually, I thought at first, it was an advertisement for Google. Anyhoo

SPIEGEL has learned from internal NSA documents that the US intelligence agency has the capability of tapping user data from the iPhone, devices using Android as well as BlackBerry, a system previously believed to be highly secure.

It's about liberty(not privacy) vs. secrecy. Anyway, Supreme Court has given the President as Article II states "War Powers or the constitutional authority to wage war which overides other rights. Japanese Internment Camps Korematsu v. United States, 323 U.S. 214 (1944) overiding 1st, 4th, 5th,6th, 7th and 14th.

"Broad powers frequently granted to the President or other executive officers by Congress so that they may deal with the exigencies of war time problems have been sustained. 21 And the Constitution when it committed to the Executive and to Congress the exercise of the war power necessarily gave them wide scope for the exercise of judgment and [323 U.S. 283, 299] discretion so that war might be waged effectively and successfully."

Prudence always looks like paranoia to the imprudent ;)

For example, I vaguely recall that military aircraft may have three independent flight-control systems, using independent designs with independently-made hardware. Is that paranoid?
