    ...but not really.

Ever since upgrading to v5, my home computer (XP SP3 32) occasionally pops up the balloon that says "NOD32 Antivirus requires your attention" and says to click here for more info. When I click on the balloon, the main NOD32 window comes up, but everything is green and says Maximum Protection. In the past, this has happened when there's an unapplied patch. I'm not sure what NOD32 is trying to tell me, but it has happened several times now.

Is there anything in the logs that can tell me what has triggered this balloon?

    XP Home SP3 32-bit
    Pentium 4 2.8Ghz HT
    2.0 GB RAM

I've noticed this "problem" in slow computers or running too much programs at startup, even when you install iTunes.

    Hello,

I think it comes from the new feature "Gamer mode".

I disabled "Enable Gamer mode when running applications in full screen automatically".

Since I disabled this setting, I do not see this false alarm. Probably a bug.

So I have no option checked in "Gamer mode".

    Hi,

Same problem here and my config is nearly the same as Oswald2, from my side, I get this false alarm when I use a User Limmited account session (Window XP SP3)

It's not so annoying but maybe it's could be an appreciated fix for next build because it put a little doubt in our souls...

Thanks and have a nice day

This is a code issue and not related in any way to what you suggest. :ouch:

Thanks for the direction. It's funny that I never noticed it in v4.

You're welcome for the comments. Many did not, others did under various installations and environments. This is a hotly contested ongoing issue.
For some, including myself, manual uninstalls did not remove the ongoing bug.

Have been seeing the same thing, just re-installed the program and it persists. Kind of glad that I'm not alone... : )

    Cheers.

Gamer mode isn't the issue for me, it's not activated.

for me, i don't seem to get a pop-up, i've just happened to notice the sys tray icon has gone to the "i" symbol. i click, it says my OpSys isn't up to date, and today it mentioned something about Msoft's Defender. so i clicked the link to run system update, and it said there was nothing to d/l :-/

this is the 2nd or 3rd times this has happened.

Have you disabled ALL options of the Gamer Mode?

    Yes, all disabled.

Just happened again after getting a virus defn update - i've investigated and it wants me to install updates for Windows Defender. Windows itself didn't find anything when i checked for updates, i got the defs myself, installed then, and still the Update Centre said nothing had been updated. Defender, however, shows the required defns are being used. so, i've mailed NOD about it.

    Wolfie138,

Windows Defender must be disabled with NOD32.

Yes but NOD32 is also and antispyware.

I do not like multiply the protections of the same type.

    This is generally not recommended.

I just upgraded to Ver 5 and still see this issue. I would have thought they would have fixed this issue with Ver. 5 since it has been around a while. At any rate it doesn't bother me that much. The wife asked me about it on her machine and I just told her it was just lonely and wanted some attention!:D

Keeping a sense of humor at all times helps, most certainly. Unfortunately it is a bug that has carried over into the code of the v5 engine that we were told was being looked at several years ago.

Since I have done this I have not noticed further pop ups from Nod. I will report if I do. I believe I also disabled some toggle feature in the gamer mode settings but I'm on a different computer at the moment. Thanks

I had this occurring because it was detecting that a Windows Defender definition update was available but it would silently install so quickly in the background after getting detected that by the time I clicked on it things were already updated. I cleared it up by changing the System Updates threshold to Important Updates.

For me, it didn't start occurring until I upgraded from v4 to v5.

    Cheers.

I can vouch for this. I was having this problem BEFORE I uninstalled....and AFTER I installed a NEW version.

Interesting (or perhaps, disappointing is the right word) to hear that this issue is still persistent in version 5. I'm still running 4.2.71.2
