    I'll be surprised if they have 4 done by then. And since they have removed the status bar, I don't care anymore. :thumbd:

    Well, beta 11 is done but is not currently being pushed through the regular channel.

    One of the really controversial changes appears to be the business relating to the url-on-hover in the location box and the Chrome-like status bubble in the lower left of the screen.

    I'll wait for beta 11 to be available for a day or so and then go for it.

    Well, so just a short explanation: Minefield is the current development build ("trunk") and right now identical with the unofficial beta 12.

    1. The url-on-hover in the location bar is still available.

    2. There's simple code to turn off the status bubble:
    Code:
    #statusbar-display {
        display: none !important;}
    (I'll post the credit for this a little later.
    In edit: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewt...id=e3ae492d67eea999f6b299522fdb788f#p10363589)

    3. The status bubble can also be tweaked:
    Code:
    .statuspanel-inner {
    width: 300px !important;
    }

    .statuspanel-label {
    background: -moz-linear-gradient(left, #808080, #b0b0b0) !important;
    }

    And both can be put in userChrome.css. Others may prefer to do the experimenting in Stylish so that changes are reflected without closing & restarting the browser. In that case, this Ghostbusters mantra maybe needed at the start of the code:
    Code:
    @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

    For those who want things a little bolder ...
    Code:
    .statuspanel-label {
    background: -moz-linear-gradient(left, #808080, #b0b0b0) !important;
    border: none !important;
    color: red !important;
    [B]font-weight: bold !important;[/B] }

    I'm trying out the portable Minefield which available on the same page. No complaints so far even though there's this caveat:
    I don't understand why the Minefield maybe generally slower. It's not noticeable to me (but I'm not set up to do any worthwhile speed comparisons with the irregular net speed I experience ;) ).

    Fx has had a warn on quit with more than one tab open.

    However, there's been a bit of turmoil in Fx 4:
    here's a link to the latest from someone in the know and with a wee bit of attitude:
    Fortunately, I don't rely on that feature, otherwise I'd be more confused.

    Just tried beta 11. What's up with the fonts? I did a side-by-side comparison with FF 4 and FF 3.xx on Wilders pages here and the fonts on FF 4 beta look all washed out, and not as sharp and dark. Really strange... I can't quite figure what's going on. This is on a fresh Win 7 x64 system. If that's what it's going to look like then I don't think I can use it....

    Ok.. I don't know what's going on really. I'll have to pass for now, and wait and see how the final release looks I guess.

    Thanks...

    Not sure if it'll help, but try this: go to about:config, type gfx then toggle gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled to true, restart Fx.

    It seems they are going for integrating website options into the Firefox UI with v5.

    Seems like a version of IE's pinned sites but in this case built into the 1 window instead of separate.

    I do have to wonder though, some of the devs were complaining to each other about not putting enough focus on major blockers and too much focus on minor issues, yet now they are putting focus on fx5 design? Seems counter productive to getting v4 to final asap to compete with IE9.
