    Just 'fine tuning' some specs here and there and remembered SnS; had not really looked at SnS for a while.
    Found the recent review at AVC and am impressed.
    http://www.av-comparatives.org/comparativesreviews/single-product-reviews
    Link to pdf on that page.

    Any comments/experience as to excellence or otherwise of SnS as a variant of whitelister +/- anti-executable.
    Regards

    Thanks for calling attention to this interesting review of SnS. I have tried SnS several times in the past. To me it seemed to be a full-on classical HIPS - very powerful, but I just couldn't seem to catch on to using it with as much ease as other HIPS I have tried.

    SnS has been consistently on the market & well-supported for quite a long time -- it obviously has much more staying power than other HIPS which have come & gone while SnS plowed steadily ahead. That fact alone makes me eager to give it another try.

    AV-C's favorable review is another incentive to re-try SnS. But what I would REALLY like to see is our resident HIPS guru {Kees1958} put this app through its paces and then write one of his always splendid tutorials. I am going to PM him with that request. If others of you do the same thing, maybe we might get him to undertake the job.

    I am very sorry Bellgamin & Jmonge but I don't have the time.

    I visit Wilders everyday for a quick look. After my rugby accident, I do not sleep contineously through the night. Some pain builds up during sleeping and after 15 minutes sitting upright I the tension is gone and I go back to sleep. Obviously I spend this time at Wilders.

    Installed the personal version trial. It took about 12 minutes to create a system profile. I then double clicked Firefox icon on desktop and received Windows message that file was not a valid executable. I then removed trial.

    Go easy on Kees. He's still smarting from the loss to the dreaded Spaniards (drats, they played possum 'til the final) :D :p BTW Kees, how can you be playing rugby if in fact you are 1958 born?? It's been all downhill physically for me since I hit 40 *ahhckk*

    A masseuse with warm olive oil and myrh to get some deep relaxation; a chiropractic evaluation to ensure that any subluxations, lesions or misalignments are not interfering with the nerves; a warm soak in a whirpool tub should be able to alieve the discomforts. Look ma, no pills! ;)

    If I can't get good coverage by instituting simple actions and there is some requirement to be a guru to understand the tool I'm not interested in trying it anymore. I'm interested in TTL not TTC.

    Not expensive either.

    What's the difference between the 14.95 and 9.95 price? Can't tell the difference.

    Yes I am born in 1958. I am not playing rugby anymore. It is a bit difficult when your neck is fixed with a titanium plate and 8 screws.

    Last year our first team could promote (they did), they had a lot of injuries, so they borrewed a few from the second. My son playes in the second. I only played with the golden oldies and occasionally the third team, but kept training (because it was a nice father-son thing to do). At the end of the training coach asked me to play for the last competition game in the second. I was just unlucky being the head man in the maul, putting the ball behind me, when the maul collapsed. Nothing 50 year old ego about it, it just happens.

    @Longboard
    Yes we are a laugh with rugby, but we are top with soccer (considering the fact we are such a small country). And Watt is right, losing the third world cup final is hard. For an Aussie it would trigger the same emotions when the Wallabies would loose from the All Blacks ten times in a row ( :D ).

    @Ilya, Bill
    Next monday I talk to the specialist again, see what we can do about. It sounds more dramatical as it is. I just sleep for four hours, wake up for half an hour and sleep againg until the alarm wakes me.

    Regards

    The Dutch have fielded some fantastic teams over the years with some of the best players in the world. One day they'll bring home the hardware. BTW, I absolutely love this Dennis Bergkamp goal and equally the call on it:

    -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsZkCFoqSBs ...what a classic :)

    Now ot, maybe I'll give S&S a test drive in the vm. It looks interesting.

    Hi Guys,

    I have tested this application 5 months back and IMO this application is really EXCELLENT .. None of the malware is able to get pass of it.. I have also tested it against TDSS, VIRUT and SALITY and all get trapped in its so called Auto-Sandbox.

    I have also tested it against against couple of rogues and i have found that none of them was able to bypass it. A strong HIPS with Auto-Sandbox is one of the best features it have.

    Crap.
    V. V.Sorry to hear that.
    I assume it will heal but sounds like it will take time. :(
    Interested to hear you are a rugby fan: greatest game ever.
    I retired at about 35 from playing contact after one too many #.
    Had to actually think about paying the mortgage.
    Played in Oz, US, Ireland, Spain.
    Loved it.
    It's all in the game.
    Ya.
    Hhmm: bit annoying that. :cautious:
    My partner is a Kiwi: she's very happy atm.

    BAck to SnS
    The tool was reviewed here :cool: in 2005: ancient history now !!

    I reread the thread: interesting names there.
    Be interesting if Blue and Peter are still using SnS. ;)

    SnS was part of Star Force Corp: an interesting company and ? still is:

    Not hidden : from the web site:
    At the AVC review I could not see what version they tested. ??

    Previous incarnations of SnS seemed to have some problems and looks like the app intercepted a lot of normal system calls.

    Required a lot of user intervention.

    Me too. We had one but the trolls ruined it so it got shut down.

    The Mods have been pretty easy-going about us making an OCCASIONAL personal comment, as long as we don't overdo it. IMO they are striking a good balance at the moment.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I convinced Blackcat to give SnS a spin. He says that it is much more stable than when he tried it in the past, & is fairly light as well. He seems impressed so far. Maybe he will post here himself. Although he isn't as active at Wilders as he used to be, BC still drops by from time to time.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    P.S. Will somebody please answer Saraceno's question about price? I am equally confused as to which price goes with which version.

    BUMMERS!!! I bought license for $9.95 & entered the activation code they sent me. The activation button called home but I still ended up with a 30-day trial copy, No activation and no explanation. :mad:

    I have put in a support request to resolve this. The support form asks for a license code with 4 groups of numbers -- I could find NO license code in any of the programs GUI nor in the "order acknowledgment" email sent to me by Safe'n'Secure. Neither does the structure of the activation code fit this form.

    Something is definitely wrong with their order process.

    Oh well, it might work out for you, but you should probably chalk it up to some hard earned $$ wasted, albeit a trivial amount. Been there, done that several times ;) The highlighted text in the attached screenshot kinda says it all :( I would avoid this like the plague.

    The $9.95 was for an AV switch upgrade. That may be the problem.

    I installed it and gave it a whirl. Lot I like, but I couldn't get it to play with Sandboxie. Bye Bye.

    I think you are right but their website wasn't clear as to what was meant. I *assumed* they meant the price applied if I already had an antivirus installed (which I do have, of course), but your interpretation is likely more accurate.

    By the way, with SnS installed & running, I ran Spyshelter's series of keylogger POC tests. SnS never gave a peep. :thumbd:

    By the way, if they don't reply to my support request, should I put a "contested" on my credit card for this item? If so, how much time should I give them to reply before so doing? Or should I just chalk it up as a contribution to US-Russia good relations?

    Bill,

    Why don't you upgrade to Windows7 when Safe-Admin is out? Safe-Admin plus PrevX Safe Online will give you all the security you will ever need (you problably have a lisence of it). Using the FW 2-way is simple (even gives you a pop-up when you Audit connection failures). You allready use Chrome+

    Windows7 runs great on old Hardware as long as you don't use transparency and skip some GUI gimmicks.

    It seemed stable at first but started to see some lockups/freezes and SLOW startups of browsers.

    But the clincher, as Pete also noted, incompatible with Sandboxie.

    Tried to uninstall but it could not find it's own uninstaller :thumbd: . Fortunately it was in a FirstDefense snapshot so poof it's gone.

    It may well be the best anti-exe but it is still not stable enough for me.

    Hhmm: wish I could edit that title...:cautious:

    As per preceding posts: might be a bit disappointing. :(

    A bit perturbed by AVC review: no doubt it is as AVC said for what AVC did, but perhaps the review could have been ..erm.. extended and a bit more prolonged ??
