    Hello,

I'm currently in talks with new sets of partners in order to propose an alternative to RK and I'm looking for a company that would be more in line with point of view of poeple on such boards (security specialists & experts).

I can't disclose more and many points are still to be discussed but for the time being, all that i can say is that poeple who are afraid of "forgotting" to decline RK (despite it is double opt-in !) should use "Lite" version.

    Thanks for using SUMo :)

    Thank you !

Apart from the "RK affair" do you have any comments or suggestion concerning SUMo ?

I actually have not used SUMo (or anything similar like it) :p I dont have many programs. I am currently tinkering and learning about security software, I will get to SUMo in a while.

But, it seems a VERY useful utility, especially for the non-experts; something that can be used to keep the whole system, add on programs included, updated.

I use linux, and there there is are central repositories which can be used to keep the system updated with one command; SUMo like tools offer the best approximation in windows as far as I know. SUMo would be a must have if it does what it says it does :)

    Some business strategy comments...

I looked at the software list of KCSoftwares.
SUMo is security oriented, and a bit out of place there. It is a very useful tool; but it will be hard to get users to pay for just it.

On the other hand, if SUMo is paired with say a lightweight firewall+program monitor; or some anti-malware tool, it will boost the value of the combined product; with people much more willing to pay for it.

Firewall+program monitor - lots of them...Firewall+program monitor+program suite update checker --- is there such a product? (I think Secunia is the only one, but for a restricted set of programs?)

Have you considered approaching some security utility makers to see if SUMo can be integrated into their product?

Perhaps Online Armor...Its already a darn good product; it will be made even better with SUMo...

Essentially, I feel there is a LOT of potential for SUMo, but it needs to pair with dedicated security products to rake in the $$$$

SUMo RK is one of my favourite utilities. Keep up the good work. Only quibble is that when an update is found, it's not always that straightforward finding the relevant file(s) to download. i.e. having to go hunting via fileforum or download.com

PS Adobe Reader latest version is showing on SUMo as 9.3.3

It should be 9.3.4. If its any consolation FileHippo haven't updated this either ;)

Known bug in Adobe Reader as they kept exe file version number to 9.3.3 even with patch applied... what a shame !

That's a brillant idea. Do you have any contact @ Online Armor ?

No, I dont unfortunately; BTW, Online Armor was recently aquired (last month I think) by Emsisoft (for an undisclosed amount of $$$ :D). Emsisoft had the same idea --- they wanted to enhance their security suite and did not want to reinvent the wheel. SUMo would make a very nice addition to their security suite too.

Sure; and if not Emsisoft, someone else(eg. Malware Bytes Antimalware). I trully believe that SUMo like utilities are helpful to the users to keep everything patched up.
You might have more luck with lightweight utilities (as system heavy anti-malware suites might have a reduced need to keep the system updated). Lightweight security utilities would benefit more from SUMo.

    Best of luck! :thumb: :thumb:

Spend my whole day formating, re-installing, and re-configuring my pc.
The last program i installed, and for the first time, was Sumo.

After a scan with Hitman Pro, i got this malware that was blunded (looking like the licence terms agreement) with Sumo.

    http://img442.imageshack.us/i/kcsoftwares.png/

Cheked on Virus Total, and 12 engines confirmed that is malware.
Since i dont want to spend another day re-formating my PC, how can i remove and correct any change that have been made to the system by RelevantKnowledge?

    Thanks

Or just do not allow rkinstall.exe in firewall, when Sumo setup is finished. ;)

I just tried it, gave me the option to not install the toolbar. I downloaded the installer without RK, but it was still loaded with adware/crapware, first it offered me some search toolbar, a few screens later a software package and some tune-up/cleaning software and after that it also offered me the Facemood toolbar.
