the latest version EAVBE 4.2.58 has two significant CRITICAL problems
both in X86 and X64 win 7 - it freezes on install of KB2286192 (5 machines experience)
Windows update does not install - freezes during shutdown requiring hard reset , update gets pending status IF it boots...
one machine blue screen of death - had to do system restore

did not occur on 4.2.40 machines

While you may get through by disabling EAVBE during the update, I have strong indications that reverting to 4.2.40 is a better option.

save your settings (advanced setup top left)
    Uninstall ESET(BE) 4.2.58
uninstall the pending windows update KB2286192
    Install ESET(BE) 4.2.40
    load your settings
    install the Update withoput problems
Agitate ESET to remove 4.2.58 from release

Tested on one machine and with 5338 it does allow KB 2286198 to install.
but Ill stick with 4.2.40 for now...

Another machine still would not allow the Update but with "different" hangs on reboot with 4.2.58 and the latest update - so it is not solved - yet.
I was able to update by rebooting and disabling ESET to do the update

Please note the issue is NOT fully resolved..

Similar here (W7 Ult. 32 Bit) in that Windows hung after the initial reboot instruction, but after a hard reboot with the reset button the update completed successfully on restart as confirmed by the Windows update history.

    Hello,

This issue should be addressed if you are on virus signature database 5338 or later. If you have a computer experiencing this problem which is on a newer signature level, please let me know.

    Regards,

This is still an issue. Re-produced on 3 Windows 2008 Server Standard X64.

    All at 5348.

Workaround: Turn off realtime scanning just before restart. Configure updates will not hang.

    Hello,

If you are experiencing problems after the installation of virus signature database 5338, then it could be an unrelated issue. I would recommend contacting ESET's technical support directly at +1 (866) 343-3738 or by using the support form on their web site in order to begin investigation by one of ESET's technical support engineers.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
