hack truecrypt,how much time does it need?

    As kookyman pointed out, the required processing time considerably slows down all password attempts. In the case of TrueCrypt, my reasonably fast Core-2 Duo can only test about 4 pw/sec when using a standard version of TC. (Pitiful, isn't it?) If I compiled a modified version that cut out some of the unnecessary routines (but not the rounds, as they can't be skipped) then I might expect it to run at around 120 pw/sec. (Maybe I'll try this someday just for fun.)

    On the other hand, I would not be at all surprised to hear that a well-funded government agency with specialized hardware and access to vast networks could test billions of TrueCrypt passwords per second.

    So your best answer is, somewhere within that range.
