Not to mention that the files that it creates would be "Untrusted" so they aren't going to be an issue to begin with. Just useless hard drive clutter.

 

Go ahead and guess -- did he actually test DW's 'antileak' capabilities, or was he testing from behind a NAT router?

As for the 'filedropper', was the file created in a sandboxed mirror of ~system32 or did it actually appear outside the sandbox?

This wasn't targeted at you, only at this "test".
It's obviously designed for HIPS vulgaris with a file protection which monitors the creation/deletion of executables in the system and system32 directory.

But with DefenseWall or GesWall or Sandboxie this test is completely irrelevant, as these files are always under the control of these apps.

well that is the whole idea to fully contain any types of files that may carry infection and revert the system back to a clean state.in the case of defensewall dont forget DW is a hips may not be a clasical hips but still it is a policy base sandbox/hips/firewall bundle in a package and irrevalent maybe always is a good idea to test to have an idea for the heck of it and competion

 

Good result by DefenseWall its a very great product against all the viruses.
But still have some issues with Avast 5.

 

Yey file drop, just drops a file in the windows/system32 directory. When it would execute or install it should be protected. Allowing file drop assures a lot of compatibility with games. So file drop is really a nonsense test with DefenseWall protection mechanism (it stays untrusted, so it is paralised)


After all DW aims for the highest usability to security ratio. Since isoloated file drop (without triggering it in some way at startup or allowing it to load at another rights level) is in the DefenseWall scheme with its own trustes-untrusted total file control, it REALLY us NOTHING to WORRY about.

Note:

Should you have a defense build upon policies depending where the file is located (e.g. in WIndows or Programs FIles) than file drop could be a potential issue. File drop could also be an issue when an unused driver (for instance file of the driver is removed, but regsitry startup key still present, due to incomplete uninstall) is used (by renaimg the dropped file). Also DefenseWall prohibits this (I am not sure which, but it is one of the CLT tests).
