The registry protector is pretty "dumb". It will alert on registry changes for legitimate products too. You must allow them.

In this case, the entry serves for SAS for loading the realtime scanner on startup. So you must click the "trust" icon on the lower right of the registry alert pop up window. "Fix" = delete the entry. And you don't want that.

The registry protector doesn't know the difference between malware and non malware. It simply shouts to you that the registry is being altered and gives you the information. It's up to you to think if this is done by legitimate process and "trust" (=allow) it, or not and "fix" (=delete) it.

I don't know what it is about twister and i know you guys can vouch for this but once you have used it it kinda has a nice feeling about it, And you dont get that urge to start installing other trail software. Because it just dosen't feel right without it.

Ye, I find it amazing that someone of his age is so up to date with Technology, Its very refreshing since most veterans of life don't know the difference between a Computer and a Toaster.

Well i am happy too. You won't get any arguments from me about the lifetime license. :D And in the antivirus poll in the poll section, the users of Twister are slowly but steadily increasing... Just remember, that Twister is often giving false positives. Use Jotti's or Virus Total for verification of a file.

I 'll tell you what the nice feeling for me is. The fact that it runs so light. You click on the tray icon and the gui pop ups in no time. Heck, my task manager takes more time to pop up! I guess it's natural to be so light, since it can run on... Windows 95 too!

They didn't have dual cores back then. :D

Bellgamin is a living legend. If and when i arrive to his age, i will be happy to be able to be updated with technology to the 50% of what he is.

Twistees, new AV test with Twister as partecipant!

    http://www.pcsecuritylabs.net/news.php?readmore=20

Zero False positives! Do you believe it!? o_O

Anyway, the most interesting is that once again, FDD performance is there:

276 samples caught by FDD! :thumb:

Nice, Its only a matter of time before twister makes it to TOP 5 AV's aslong as they keep at it, and make some good changes in the next version.

Well, right now i don't think it can climb at top 5 in the next year at least. But it is maintaining a good level and when the new version comes out, i will have more hopes for better results. They should also do something about pubblicity...

Errm... I wouldn't count on that. Twister often has false positives. Apart this, it often has alerts from FDD on suspicious activities (from the behaviour blocker), which are false positives too. But that's normal and good for me. The following are FDD alerts i got on legitimate applications:

    - NetMeter.exe
    - RocketDock.exe
    - Kmdutil.exe
    - MyBookLib.exe
    - zplayer.exe

I don't consider them "False positives", since they are flagged as suspicious ("danger process"). But just to show that with Twister you are never bored. :D

I just discovered browsing the PCSL forum, that there is a "Filseclab Fans Forum", where they talk about Twister! Unfortunately it is in chinese....

    http://www.ftfans.org/

Well, if someone of the Twistees speaks chinese, he may like it... :doubt:

It's great that they have forum. I suppose it's similar to Kaspersky fan forum.

To bad that we don't understand chinese. Maybe with some online translator.

I wonder how many people are using Twister?

Reading you Fuzzfas, it makes me to try this product. I'm in temptation.

Too bad that there aren't many tests about Twister and it's detection rate.

    hey, guys.

I am the webmaster of ftfans.org. ftfans.org is for the fans of twister and other products of filseclab. I am not the official guy in the filseclab, but the officer often come to our forum(they have the administrator access).

Twister is from China mainland, but when it was born, it is an english version, not for chinese. I do not know if there is any officer of filseclab in this forum. It seems that the filseclab is focus on the chinese market. Since 2007, filseclab has cooperated with many forum. The people in China uesed to be familiar with Rising, Kingsoft and Jiangmin A-V softs, but now, Twister and Mircropoint become more and more popular.

Micropoint is somehow like threatfire, in China, it is great. There might be too many False positives for you guys.

OK, here is a good news for you who like Twister

The new version of Twister, i.e. V8, will come out in the mid of 2009, meanwhile, the new version of personal firewall will meet you then. The firewall would be free.

The twister and firewall may be integrated into a security suit. And, if you don't like that security suit, there will be a independent version of twister and independent version of firewall for u.

If you guys have any problem, feel free to contact me, or post it right here. The english version of ftfans forum might come out in one or two month, thank you

    Welcome to Wilders forum.

Don't forget to visit this forum often and answer to our questions.

Nice to hear all those great news about Twister.
I imagine that all existing users will be happy to hear it. And of course potential new customers.

One question from me: Is it planned to be implement HTTP scanner in Twister in future?

    Welcome!

I am glad to hear it! It seems Twister has comparable detection to Kingsoft and Jiangmin, while giving lifetime license. So i don't understand why a chinese user would prefer a yearly fee for the other chinese antiviruses.
    positives for you guys.

Ah, the rebirth of the firewall! Interesting! This is showing they 're getting more serious to get into business. Good.

An english version of ftfans would be great! Thank you! There are least 5 Twister users in here, as you can see here:

there is a scan detection test.
this test is finished by AV soft fans, so it is fair enough, without cheating. sorry, there are too many cheating and misleading in the media here.

here is the result of the test in december 2008.

Trying doesn't hurt. You can do some testing yourself too... I also have the feeling that the lifetime license won't be there forever. When you activate Twister, currently you have lifetime license. But, on the manual registration window, there is also a "Renew" button. Meaning, for non lifetime licenses that i suspect will come some day...
The bigger the risk, the bigger the gain...

Twister isn't going to beat Avira any time soon. But in tests of 2 different sources (PCSL and an older i don't remember from what origin) it consistently scores at levels of other, more well known (and with yearly fee) antiviruses. Add Inspector Clouseau's comment on detection rate. That was good enough for me, to understand that 25 euros were worth the risk for the potential of having a lifetime license. Hey, in PCSL, for 2 months in a row, it beats TrendMicro, which is quite famous and you can find in stores in Europe too and people buy it in boxed versions. It can't be that bad of a risk if you ask me! :D In the improbable scenario that v.8 will be worse than v.7, i will use it on demand and use a free AV instead for resident...

Thank you! Well, another one where Twister beats Kingsoft and Jiangmin. It's light, it's better and it's lifetime! What more do the chinese users want from an AV?! Go Twister, go! Maybe Filseclab's problem is lack of pubblicity in China?

I also checked Micropoint. It seems that it is still in beta. When it will be released as stable, if they give lifetime and runs light, i 'll grab it. :D

the dectetion rate of twister is far more better than kingsoft, Jiangmin and rising. In china, the only one which is comparable to Twister is Micropoit.

Micropoit has its stable version, and the trial time is 30~90 days. It is much like the threatfire, and it is very cheap, not lifetiem licence. In fact, this soft start its beta version from 2005, until 2008, it is 3 years!

As far as i know, the CEO of micropoint, Mr Liu, a kind-hearted guy, is planning to give the micropoint free licences for all, i.e. the micropoint will be a total free product for everybody, like Avast!. But I do not know the exactly time for this.

anyway, i'd like to introduce micropoint to you! http://bbs.micropoint.cn/
