Perhaps a fradulent website is one that leads to install something/subscribe to something, even if it's a legal app/service, but using deceptive methods?

Yes, I know... legal... right...

I have the 0.1.13 plug-in installed and working fine in the new FF 5.0, however trying to install 0.1.17 fails.

I had issues too, so I right-clicked Save Link As..., and then used Install Add-on From File.

I noticed the toolbar tends to appear and disappear at times.

Don't need to do that anymore. It actually updated from the previous version on another system.

Yes, they are. And, there are no issues between TrafficLight and LinkScanner anymore. LinkScanner Safe-Search is a complete stain, though. LOL

Does that mean an update has been released? Cause in that case I would like to give it another chance.

After reading this thread I installed TrafficLight in a VM. It works flawlessly with FF 3.6.18 but I don't know if it is stopping anything.

Has anyone determined if it protects against malware etco_O

I've got it running on my wife's setup and so far so good.

On my own, I thought the add-on increased Firefox's RAM/CPU even more than the already high levels exhibited in version 5 so I removed it, at least temporarily.

On one of my Windows XP Pro PC's I am showing Firefox 5 to be using 146 MB of memory. Is this considered to be "high" memory usage?

Here's some info from an article in mozillaZine. I don't know the date it was published or if it's the most current data:
