    Thanks for the replies. I have been trying Image for DOS, it lets me create a bootable USB, I can boot from that and do a backup (tried that)...

    I removed Acronis firstly with just Add/Remove Programs in Windows 7, then used the utility mentioned above, there is now just one of those items...
