    at first congratulation to the eset dev´s...at least imho ess is a really interesting security suite and it seems to have a lot of potential.

    but one of the features I missed the most in beta1 (and possible a reason for buying the final if released) is a mozilla thunderbird-support by the antispam module.

    I LOVE thunderbird but, however, it´s not plugin-supported by any of the security suite i know expect McAfee, so that would be a really awesome feature.

    I believe the antispam is licenced and not in house so I'm not sure they can do what you want.

    I'm pritty sure I read on a thread around somewhere here that more app compatability is planned but hasn't been finished yet. I personaly would like this too but it wouldn't stop me from buying it...

    Even though I haven't yet gone back to TB after having been a devout user for quite some time (damn Outlook '07 and its fantastic task/calendar management), and even though Thunderbird has a considerable filter built-in, I would also love to see antispam support for it.

    And true - it's only beta 1, so other stuff will definitely be added.

    Marcos posted here https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=170886&highlight=thunderbird that support for outlook express and perhaps some other clients would be included in later stages.

    I'm a Thunderbird user - currently enjoying version 2.0 - and although the spam filters in Thunderbird are very good, even better in 2.0, i would still like to see ESS scannning my mail too otherwise i'm paying for anti-spam but not actually getting the benefit of it.

    yeah of course, thunderbird has an anti-junk filter included, but just as rothko pointed out would be nice to get my mails scanned by eset too including scans of manipulated attachments and images in html-mails, not only to get this whole f******* porn, viagra and you have won crap sorted out to the junk folder, which does thunderbird very well i think

    I have to say that despite being a member of several forums on which my email address is accessible, I get virtually no spam.
    The solution, IMO, is to use Google mail/gmail as your default email. Gmail is, I think, almost alone among the web mail providers in allowing POP & SMTP access directly. You may easily set up your mail client to do this, (remember gmail requires secure connections, port 995, and IIRC, port 465,) and you can then use your email client to send & receive mail just as if you were using your ISP'smail servers.
    Google Mail/Gmail has an excellent spam filtering capability and when I log on to the web mail facility I often see 200 or spam messages sitting in the spam folder and therefore not downloaded to my PC.
    I really don't need a security suite with spam filtering, so the logic of actually buying ESS is, for me saying "No"

    @rogervernon

    you´re right in talking about gmail: i´m using it as my private mail account and also my my addy can be found on multiple forum, blogs, .... i get no spam via this account in my inbox cause gmail is blocking them already (and i can say it´s a lot of spam). one idea i have is to forward all mails to a gmail account so i can keep my known business family.... addresses but got filtering by gmail. that would be a possible solution if on-demand virus-scanning or spamblocking won´t work is future with ess and thunderbird
